What is a post?
Posts are free-form text entries created by members of the chapters.indigo.ca community, and can be created by individuals, or as part of a group/bookclub. Post entries can include photographs, video, text and/or polls, and may also be associated with items on our site.

For example, a community member or bookclub group might be very interested in the environment - they could create a post which might include tips on saving the environment, and then associate that post with books written by David Suzuki.

Who is able to read my posts?
You determine who is able to see your individual posts. Use the privacy setting feature to mark posts as public, friends-only or private. To Edit Privacy & Email Alerts, sign into your profile and use the link called "edit Privacy & Email Alert Settings" located in the left-hand column below the area which has your interests and your photograph.

If you post as a member of a group, the group administrator controls the Privacy & Email Alert Settings for that post.

How do I create a post?
To create and publish posts, select the "create a post" link located beneath the image of the item on the product page. Or sign into your profile and select the "write a post" link in the posts section. Use the editing tool provided - you can write a post, and add polls, images, photographs and items, or embed videos on YouTube.com.

How do I edit a post?
Select the "edit" link to be taken to an editable version of the post you would like to change. Once your edits are complete, simply select the “Publish Post” button. The date will reflect the latest submission date and the post would move to the top of the posts section. It will also appear within the posts section on your profile.

How do I add a comment to a post?
You may comment on a post you've written or another members' post by selecting the "add a comment" link associated with the post. Any member of the community may add a comment to a post you have written, provided you have marked posts as public.

How do I delete a comment I've added to a post?
If you decide to remove a comment added to a post you’ve created, select the ‘delete’ link located below the comment.

How do I add an item to a post?
To add an item found on chapters.indigo.ca to the body of your post, use the "Search & Select Items" button found in the Create a Post editor.

How do I add a photo to a post?
Use the "Upload Photo" button found in the Create a Post editor to add photos to your post..

What types of photos are allowed?
The photographs or images you use should pertain to the context of your post. Remember, you are not allowed to use any images you do not own or have the permission to distribute.

Additionally, we do not allow any images that could be construed as pornographic or violent. For more details about the acceptable use of image and photographs, please read the Terms of Use and Acceptable Use Policy.

Are there any restrictions in size or format for photos attached to a post?
Photos or images may be uploaded as JPEG, GIF or PNG files, with size limited to 100k.

How do I add a video to a post?
You can insert embedded video from YouTube into your posts. In the Create a Post editor, simply use the "Embed Video" button and then cut and paste the URL from YouTube into the text box provided.

How do polls work? How do I add a poll?
When you create a post, you can choose to add a poll for your readers to vote on a given topic. The results are dynamically generated and displayed each time a participant votes. You can create and add a poll to your posts by selecting the "Create a Poll" button found in the Create a Post editor. If you choose to edit a poll you’ve created, the votes will be automatically reset once your edits are saved.

How do I remove a comment someone has added to my post?
If you decide to remove a comment added to a post you’ve created, select the ‘delete’ link located below the comment.
