How do I change my Privacy & Email Alert Settings?
To change your privacy and email settings, sign into your profile and select the link titled ‘edit privacy & email alerts' (located in the left-hand column below the area which has your interests and your photograph.)
Once in your privacy and email alerts, you have several options for managing your privacy and alerts.
How do I use the privacy settings?
Use privacy settings to control privacy for all the information in your community profile, and all the content you create for the community. This setting will override all of your individual privacy settings to limit who is able to access your profile and content. The ‘Everyone’ setting will allow anyone, including non-community members, to view and comment on your content. ‘My Friends’ is a setting that limits your content to only the community members you’ve added as a friend on your profile. ‘Myself’ is a private setting which limits your content to be seen by you only.
What is Community Connections?
Community Connections is a monthly email newsletter all about the chapters.indigo.ca Community.
How do I manage opt-in or opt-out to receive Community Connection emails?
Sign in to your account and select the box next to Email Extras.
How do I opt-in to receive the monthly community newsletter?
In order to receive the community newsletter, you’ll need to subscribe to our Email Extras program, which is managed through your Account Centre. To learn more about the monthly community newsletter sign into your profile and select ‘edit privacy & edit email alerts’ in the About You section. You are able to view a preview of the latest community newsletter and change your preferences for email alerts, plus link to your Account Centre to opt-in for the newsletter. Alternatively, you can sign directly into your account and select the box next to “Email Extras” in your Settings page.
What is the difference between emails and messages?
Within the Email Alerts & Privacy Settings you are able to manage both the messages and emails you receive. Messages are received in an area of your profile titled, ‘Message Centre’ at the top right-hand corner of the page. Email Alerts are sent to your external email inbox, using the email address you used to setup your profile.
Do I have any control over who can access my profile?
An alternative to using the Community Privacy Override is to choose specific privacy settings for your content and profile. Within the Email & Privacy settings is an area where you are able to set privacy for specific types of content, such as posts, lists, reviews, or the About Me section of your profile.
Can I stop someone from leaving comments?
The community was created to support open discussions; however, if
you feel another community member is leaving inappropriate comments you can
alert the
Community Administrator by using the ‘Report This’ function next
to the comment you find offensive. You can also change your Privacy & Email
Alert Settings so only you and/or your friends are able to read the content
you submit.
Can I choose where the content I create is displayed?
Your privacy settings allow you to decide where your content is displayed and who is able to see your content. Please note, if you choose to make your content public, it will appear throughout the chapters.indigo.ca site and possibly in search results on other sites such as Google or Yahoo.
Can I stop messages from being sent to my email address?
You can select whether or not you would like to receive community
emails. To change your email settings, sign into your account and selecting
the link called ‘Edit
Privacy & Email Alerts’ located in the left-hand column below the
area which has your interests and your photograph. Please note, you will still
receive emails relating to any orders you place through the online store, or
emails from the community administrator, if deemed necessary.
Can I change my email address?
You can change your email address be selecting the “Your Account” link
located on the top of every page of the site. Sign in to your account, and
then select the “Your Settings” link. Then, follow the instructions
for changing your email address.
Who has access to my email address?
Your email address will never be shared by Indigo Books & Music Inc. and
is not surfaced anywhere on the public site or on your profile. Additionally,
we strongly recommend that you do not share personal contact information while
participating in the community.
How do I manage my email and message alerts?
Email alerts are delivered to your external email address to keep you informed about community information concerning your friends, favourites, and groups. Additionally, you will receive the same messages in the Message Centre of your profile.
You can select which community email alerts you receive to your external email address in the Email Alerts & Privacy page. You can choose to receive email alerts for the following activities:
• When you are invited to join a group
• When you receive a recommendation from a friend
• When someone adds a post to a group you have joined or create
• When someone comments on content you create
To manage marketing emails you receive as part of the Email Extras program, please sign into your account centre.
