How do I create a profile?
All you need to create a profile is an email address.
If you do not have a chapters.indigo.ca account, simply enter your first and
last name into the Sign In section and click
on Create Account. You will then be prompted to create your profile. You can
choose to update your profile at anytime and change the information you want
to share.
If you already have a chapters.indigo.ca account, simply use your existing
user ID and password to sign into the community profile. You will be prompted
for additional profile information as required.
Is there a cost to create a profile?
It's entirely free to join the community and create a profile.
Are there any age restrictions for creating a profile?
Individuals under the age of 18 are not permitted to create a profile. Should
a profile be reported and suspected as created by an individual under the age
of 18, the profile may be removed at the discretion of the community administrator.

Who is part of the community?
We welcome all booklovers: bibliophiles, writers, editors, authors, artists,
academics, publishers and of course our employees. In fact, anyone who loves
to read and wants to share their enthusiasm about the written word should join
our community!
How do I edit my profile?
Updating and changing your profile is easy - you can change your photograph,
pen name, and add or delete your interests. All you need to do is to sign in
to your profile and select the link called 'Edit' located in the
left-hand column below the area which has your interests and your photograph.
For a complete list of interests, be sure to select the button "Add More
to Your Profile".
How do I remove my profile from the chapters.indigo.ca community?
You may modify or remove all or some of your profile information at any time by signing into your account and selecting the link called 'Edit Privacy & Email Alerts' located in the left-hand column below the area which has your interests and your photograph.
You may hide and remove content including lists, posts, groups, friends and favourites, "about me" and reviews by marking those sections as private. If you wish to deactivate your profile, including your online account, please contact the Indigo Community administrator using the email address provided. Removed information may persist in backup copies for a reasonable period of time but will not be generally available to visitors on the website.
However, please note that when you post a comment on another members' profile or content, you will not be able to remove the comment or mark it private once you've published it.
What is the Message Centre?
The Message Centre is your source for recent activity such as: friend requests, group requests, group invitations, new group posts and comments, and recommendations. It is a prominent area on your profile that combines Messages, Community News and a new Browse section allowing you to easily explore Community content.
Why is there a Community News section?
The Community News appears at the top right of everyone's profile page.
It offers the Community Administrator a forum to update members with news and
information, including tips on how to use the site and advance notice of new
features and functionality.
Can I turn off the Community News section?
No, you cannot disable or turn off the Community News section. However, if
you prefer not to see it, you may collapse the section.
How often is the Community News updated?
There is no set timeline for the messages, but generally messages are updated once a week.
How do I use the Browse section in the Message Centre?
The browse area within the Message Centre is an easy way to find important information, such as links to Community Help, FAQs our Code of Conduct and more. Plus, you’ll also find quick links to lists, reviews, posts, and other community members.
How do I change the look of my profile?
You can choose from 3 different colour backgrounds and text to personalize
the look of your profile. After signing into your profile, select 'Edit' and
look for the "Personalize Your Profile" section to change the colour
of your profile.
What do I do if I forget or need to change my password?
Click here to send a request for your password to be reset. An email will be
sent to the external email address you provided when you create your profile
or online account. The email will contain instructions for creating a new password.
Are there any restrictions for my profile image?
You are not allowed to use any images you do not own or have the permission
to distribute. Additionally, we do not allow any images that could be construed
as pornographic or violent. For more details, please read the Terms of Use
and Acceptable Use Policy.
Who will see my profile image?
You determine who sees your profile picture. If you mark your profile private,
only you can see your profile picture. If you mark your profile as "friends-only",
only your friends will see your picture. If you're profile is marked
public, everyone will see your picture. Remember, if your profile is public,
anytime you write a review, or create a post associated with an item, your
picture will be located on the product page as well.
Can I use an image instead of a personal photo?
If you prefer not to use a personal photo, you can select from one of the images
provided under the label "avatar".
Are there any restrictions on the type of image I use for my profile avatar?
You may upload JPEG, GIF or PNG files, with a maximum size of 100k.
