What are recommendations?
Recommendations are a quick and easy way to highlight the books, music, DVDs and toys you would recommend to others. They are items you think others might enjoy or find useful. You can rate your recommendations and also write notes or short reviews to go along with them.
There are two types of recommendations:
- My Recommendations (or I Recommend) are recommendations you have made to the community at large, or sent directly to some or all of your friends within the community.
- Recommendations for Me are recommendations that have been sent to you by your friends within the community.
Who is able to see my recommendations?
You determine who is able to see recommendations. Use the privacy setting feature to mark recommendations as public, friends-only or private. To Edit Privacy & Email Alerts, sign into your profile and use the link called "edit Privacy & Email Alert Settings" located in the left-hand column below the area which has your interests and your photograph.
However, if you send a recommendation to a friend and they have their recommendations marked as public, everyone will see your recommendation - regardless of whether you have set your recommendations as private.
How do I add and/or make a recommendation?
To add recommendations to your profile while you are surfing chapters.indigo.ca, select the "add to recommendations" link located beneath the image of the item on the product page. You are able to add a comment and give the recommendation a rating of up to 5 stars. When you want to send a recommendation to a friend you are able to attach a message.
Who can make a recommendation to me?
Only community members' whom you have accepted as friends can send a recommendation
directly to you - they may also include a rating, note or mini-review with
the recommendation. Their recommendations will appear on your profile in the "Recommended
for Me" section.
How do I edit recommendations?
Sign into your profile, select the "edit" link in the recommendations
section. Use the tabs on the recommendations page to toggle between "my
recommendations" and "recommended for me".
You will see free-form
text boxes where you can add a note or write a short review. You can also rate
each item. If you want to send an item as a recommendation to your friends, select
the link called "recommend this item to a friend".
How do I remove recommendations?
Sign into your profile, select the "edit" link in the recommendations
section and use the "delete" link associated with the recommendations
you would like to remove.
Can I comment on recommendations?
You can add a written note, short review, or comment on your own recommendations and other community members' recommendations.
Who will see my message when I send a recommendation to a friend?
When you send a recommendation to a friend, or multiple friends, the message will be seen through their personal message centre and will appear in their recommendation section.
