From Our Editors

Part of a wonderful series for beginning readers first published in the '60s, this book probably helped not a few parents of the '90s and 00's to learn to read. Are You My Mother? is the winsome and, at times, very funny story of a baby bird who has fallen out of his nest. Kind of lonely and looking to imprint, the little bird begins an informal survey, asking all manner of creatures and things the all-important question: Are you my mother? Young readers will delight in mastering this story themselves and younger listeners will giggle at the improbability of some of the bird's potential mothers -- a cow, a dog and even an airplane! Of course, in the end, a wonderful moment of recognition brings mother and baby together again. Ages 4-6.

Appropriate for ages: 3 - 5
