20th Century House For Mr Biswas

by V S Naipaul
Foreword by: Ian Buruma

Penguin UK (PB) | February 1, 1993 | Trade Paperback

The book that first brought Naipaul worldwide acclaim, this richly comic novel tells the moving story of a man without a single asset who enters a life devoid of opportunity, and whose tumble-down house becomes a potent symbol of the search for identity in a postcolonial world.

V.S. Naipaul has a unique style of prose that nobody else can quite match. Unfortunately his prose drags on in the middle of the novel and you can easily loose interest in the plot.
