A few of my favorite things... Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens are not on my list of favourite things -- or that is, not when it comes to stocking the fridge and pantry. Instead, my list is full of basic, readily available ingredients that have multiple uses and have the added benefit of making my cooking life easier. Let''s face it -- we all have our favorites. I have a top ten which keeps changing -- depending on my mood or the season -- but will almost always include tinned tomatoes and barbecued chickens. Anchovies and curry pastes. Coconut milk and feta. Dried pasta and instant polenta. Tofu and soy sauce. And bread. Stale, of course. It isn''t the best word to associate with food but let''s face it, ''stale'' is what happens to bread.
