Shocking, terrifying and disturbing do not begin to explain what Jaycee Dugard had to endure for over eighteen years. This amazing book details the horrific incidents she had to suffer, and allows the reader to see her at her most vulnerable. Although, many of the stories are hard to imagine and often times hard to read, Jaycee’s strength and determination shine through the horrifying situations. Even though she is only a first time author, the book had me glued to the pages. With every new chapter new horrors emerged, but with every turn of the page you are able to see just how thankful the author is for her family and freedom.

I have the upmost respect for this young lady. I just could not even imagine going through what she did. The book was very well written, and I could not put it down. I think she is an amazing young lady and a wonderful Mom. My heart goes out to her and the family.

WHAT AN AMAZINGLY WRITTEN BOOK. I FOUND THE BOOK VERY DISTURBING BUT I TOOK SOLACE IN ALREADY KNOWING THAT SHE WAS RETURNED TO HER FAMILY IN THE END. I BOUGHT THIS BOOK TO SUPPORT JAYCEE AND TO HEAR HER STORY. WHAT SHE ENDURED IS JUST UNBELIEVABLE AND HEART BREAKING. IT IS JUST AMAZING THAT AFTER BEING KIDNAPPED WHEN SHE WAS ONLY 11 YRS OLD AND IN GRADE 5 THAT JAYCEE WROTE SUCH GOOD DAILY JOURNALS WHILE IN CAPTIVITY AND IT IS AMAZING THAT SHE IS SUCH AN INTELLIGENT WOMAN TODAY AFTER BEING DEPRIVED OF GOING TO SCHOOL. IN ONE OF HER JOURNALS WHILE IN CAPTIVITY, HER DREAM LIST FOR THE FUTURE STATED SHE WANTED TO WRITE A BEST SELLER. WELL JAYCEE, AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED YOUR BOOK SHOULD BE ON THE BEST SELLER LIST!

Jaycee does an amazing job with her book. It was captivating from beginning to end and I can't believe everything she went threw. The book is very interesting and she explains her feelings so well, you feel what she feels throughout the whole book. A recommended read if you like biographies because this one is amazing.

Jaycee memoir allowed the reader to live her nightmare. This book brought me to tears, but yet I couldn't stop reading. I highly recommend this book and wish Jaycee all the best in her new life. We can all learn from her experiences.

I'm not really sure I should even write a review of A Stolen Life. What can I really say?? How can I criticize a women who survived what Jaycee survived? I knew going in that this memoir was written by a victim in her own words about her abduction, captivity, and rescue. I knew it would be a disturbing and detailed account. Let's face it, that is why we all purchased this book - We wanted to be voyeuers, we wanted all the gory details...we didn't go in thinking it was going to be exquisitely written. I will say that this young woman is a survivor, I'm happy to pay to read her story if it helps her in her life, and the system failed her in every conceivable way, and she needs to be compensated in some way for that. I hope she is able to live the rest of her life with love and peace - she deserves all her heart can hold.

The book was distrubing in content and I applaud this young woman for her courage. The book was not great or bad, I felt it was unfinished so much unsaid. Her content was all over the place and I felt like I was reading a childs story and In many ways I was. Maybe this story should have waited a few more years.
