An Acceptable Time

by Madeleine L'engle

Random House Children's Books | November 1, 1990 | Mass Market Paperbound

A flash of lightning, quivering ground, and, instead of her grandparents'' farm, Polly sees mist and jagged mountains -- and coming toward her, a group of young men carrying spears.

Why has a time gate opened and dropped Polly into a world that existed 3,000 years ago? Will she be able to get back to the present before the time gate closes -- and leaves her to face a group of people who believe in human sacrifice?

This book is very good for the imagination. This story is about a girl named Polly who is visiting her grandparent's farm in New England. One day while she is walking through an orchard she suddenly sees mist and some rough mountains. She also sees a group of young men coming towards her with spears. Why has a time gate opened and dropped Polly into a world over three thousand years ago? Will she be able to find her way back to the present or will she have to face a gathering of people who believe in human sacrifice?

I would really reccommend this book who is creative and loves books about fantasy or adventure!!

A great story of how Polly O'Keefe goes back three-thousand years in a time unlike her own, where she learns you can never trust time and how it works. If you loved "A Wrinkle in Time" you will hold on to this book forever!

I loved this book. I sat up all night reading it because I just had to finish it. This novel takes you back in time, and connects you with other novels by Ms. L'Engle. But not to worry you don't need to have read them to understand what is going on. This is a great book andI recommend it to everyone.
