I don't understand why this book got such high reviews.

There are obvious grammatical errors throughout the whole book. This is a published book - readers should expect more.

The story isn't original and isn't engaging at all. It isn't interesting. It isn't witty or charming or even simply okay. After reading it to my daughter once, I have absolutely no desire to read it to her again.

The entire book is very wordy and long-winded. Things could have and SHOULD HAVE been said with much more simplicity and elegance.

The illustrations appear to have been done by a child - which DOES add a certain charm (as little charm as that might be).

I say you save your money and buy a book from a more worthy author.
