Astonishing Splashes Of Colour

by Clare Morrall

October 31, 2004 | Hardcover

Shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, this compelling novel takes its title from J.M. Barrie's description of Peter Pan's Neverland and follows the life of Kitty, a woman who, in a sense, has never grown up.

Bought this book for $5.99 at the local Chapters. Figured, what the hell? I feel I should go back and pay full price. This is truly an astounding novel. The narrator, her father, husband, and brothers are so vividly imagined. I became very involved in Kitty's life as I read this book. The narrative threatens to fall apart in the last fifty-or-so pages, but it is still a fantastic book.
