Best-known as a musician and a spoken-word performer, poet Tanya Davis has now taken to the page with At First, Lonely. In this collection, she reflects on life''s many passages: falling in love and out, the search for personal truth, the search for home. Davis''s
style is one-of-a-kind: a blend of contemporary phrasing with profound personal expression. But her message is universal; over two million people have watched How to Be Alone, a film adaptation of her poem created by independent filmmaker Andrea Dorfman. Tanya
Davis'' poetry challenges the intellect and touches deep places in the heart.

About the Author

Tanya Davis is a singer/songwriter/poet whose refreshing matrimony of language and sound sidesteps the genre and captivates audiences. Tanya is a two-time winner of the CBC National Poetry Face-off. With support from Bravo, a short videopoem was produced of her poem How to Be Alone. It has been featured at The Vancouver Film Fest, The Worldwide Short Film Festival, and the VideoPoetry Festival (Berlin), and has had over two million views on YouTube. It recently won Video of the Year at the Nova Scotia Music Awards. Davis has put together a feature-length show of music and performance poetry, funded by The Canada Council for the Arts, which will debut in 2011.
