From the Publisher

OATHS SWORN . . . loyalties tested . . . forces collide.

Following the colossal battle against the Empire's warriors on the Burning Plains, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have narrowly escaped with their lives. Still there is more at hand for the Rider and his dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep.

First is Eragon's oath to his cousin Roran: to help rescue Roran's beloved, Katrina, from King Galbatorix's clutches. But Eragon owes his loyalty to others, too. The Varden are in desperate need of his talents and strength-as are the elves and dwarves. When unrest claims the rebels and danger strikes from every corner, Eragon must make choices- choices that take him across the Empire and beyond, choices that may lead to unimagined sacrifice.

Eragon is the greatest hope to rid the land of tyranny. Can this once-simple farm boy unite the rebel forces and defeat the king?

The best of the three by far! I could not put it down and it just left me wanting more! I recommend the series to all fantasy/action lovers and I most certainly recommend this book. The ending was a bit disappointing, but not because it wasn't extremely well written. It was simply disappointing to be finished and have to wait for the fourth. I cannot wait for the final book of this cycle, and I must say that Christopher Paolini has really out done himself.

Very disappointing...really...I mean, who in the world wants to read a HUGE book about nothing? Serious, I've waited since 2005 for the series to continue and got really disappointed with this one, it was BORING, so much I skipped full paragraphs all together! Didn't like at all...next book we'll finally see the end of Eragon and Saphira's saga but the series, could've seriously done without Brisingr... arrrg!

Fillers, fillers & more fillers 2

I really want to give at least one of Paolini's books 3 stars, but I really have a hard time giving it when I think back to all the fillers. I still harbor no good will towards the hero, and there seems to be more questions than answers.

At least Christopher Paolini knows how to write fillers... Which was exactly what this book was. Everything that was actually worth reading took place within the last hundred pages, which can easily be summarized into a page. It was a little bit of a let down, to be honest. I waited a year (if not slightly more) for some sort of conclusions and developing ideas and what I got was a book that started lots of ideas and finished those ones, but left all the originals from the other books… read more

I really appreciated the next statement of the Inheritance serie. It reveals a lot of things and we get to know more of each characters and see more of their personalities. In this book, Eragon do the things that he didn't have the time to do in previous books thus the first half and more are things he said he will do in the other two book so no great surprise. And for the other half it was totally amazing, we get to know big secrets and something very important happen. However there was some… read more

Just fininished reading Brisingr after picking it up on the first day of sales. Paolini did an amazing job of continuing his evolution of his world. I thouroughly enjoyed the book however I was suprised and dissapointed to have to wait for how long no one knows until the fourth book comes to light. Still He keeps us waiting. Incredible read and a must for any who are following the series. his description of the different races is like watching a movie in your head. Details are incredible… read more

Dustin I thought that Brisingr was the name of the golden dragon? Remember that in the end of Eldest the other dragon rider for the elves starts to teach Eragon so he can become the true saviour to the elven kingdom. The golden dragon has a stump for his leg because he lost it in a battle.

    Comments on this review:
    • The golden dragon's name isn't Brisignr it is Glaedr. Brisignr means fire.

    • Actually, the name of the dragon is Glaedr. Brisingr is the elvish name for fire. =)

    • No, the golden dragon from Eldest was named Glaedr. Even I could remember that! I don't know if Brisingr will be the name for the third dragon or if the ... read more
