After the first book in this quartet, I was really looking forward to this and when I bought it I went straight home to devour it like I've been doing with Nora Roberts novels for over 10 years now. Now, the first ¾ of the book, I would give it about 3 stars, it wasn't bad but it wasn't awesome. However, I hated the way the dramatic tension was carried out at the end by all characters involved and was written in such a way as COMPLETELY CRAZY behavior by the protagonist was perceived as being completely appropriate. By the time I put the book down, after forcing myself to finish it, I couldn't stand the main character and was not rooting for her in the least, in fact I was rooting for the male lead to come to his senses and run away. Additionally, the overbearing behavior of one of the other characters, who will be the lead in one of the future books, made me greatly dislike her as well. This series, which started out promising for me, will not be one that I will continue to read.
