Mercy has built herself a life where no one really gets close to
her, and that's how she likes it. The truth is, she's afraid of
what she might do to people, if they got close. Because if Mercy
isn't careful, when tells you to do something, her ability, called
'pressing,' will make you do it.
But when things start to get out of control, Mercy starts using her
'press' to deal with things, and soon there are people she cares
about in danger, and it might just be that she's not as alone as
she thought she was. And that could be the worst danger of all.
I really appreciate the interior workings of Mercy's mind - Andrews
has done a good job here with crafting a character who is flawed,
full of good intentions, and 'blessed' with a gift that just begs
to be used - and misused - too easily. I'm happy to report there is
a sequel now, 'Angel of Mercy,' as well.
