In Book 2 of the House of Night series, teenage boys (known to Zoey) have been disappearing and have been found near the House of Night, drained of blood, in what looks like a vampyre attack (despite an agreement for vampyres not to feed on live humans).
******SPOILERS BELOW IF YOU HAVEN'T READ BOOK 1 (MARKED)******
Meanwhile, Zoey is now leader of the Dark Daughters and Sons, and a High Priestess in training, so she has to reorganize the group, and she is dealing with a new boyfriend and possibly imprinting with her ex-boyfriend, Heath.

I quite liked it, but not quite as much as the first book. I liked that we got to see a different side to a couple of the characters. And, I still just wanted to keep reading if I already was, and go back to reading if I wasn't.

    A Nice Change

I like the fact that in this series that vampires are a part of everyday life and that they are not creatures of myths. So far I have found the series easy to read and entertaining. I do believe that some of the content is not suitable for younger teens but would be considered light reading for adults.
I do have a couple grievances although I wouldn't stop reading the series because of it. First of most of the rituals are very pagan/wiccan based and I would have liked them to be more original or the author to have written about witches instead of vampires. The other was just a pet peeve of mine, accuracy. The author talks about eucalyptus as a native plant used with sage that had been used for centuries. Since eucalyptus grows in Australia and Tasmania I thought there were a lot more American plants that are used for cleansing that would have been more appropriate. As I said, just a person pet peeve.

I was so interested in what was going
to happen in this book! I love the added lust in this one. Blood. Sex.
Magic. Seriously! Dark doesn't always mean evil and light doesn't
always mean good. Damn straight! I wish I had an affinity with the elements. So cool! Can't wait to read the next one!

    Dreaming of Books Review

With everything that has happened in the first book it's hard to believe that Zoey has only been at the House of Night for only a month. Zoey's really grown so much from the beginning of Marked to the end of Betrayed. She's the most powerful fledgling ever and she's become the leader of the Dark Daughters. She can stand up for herself now and will fight back when needed.

Zoey's love life is also getting complicated. Erik and Heath still vying for Zoey but the new Vapyre Poet Laureate, Loren is showing an interest too. Heath has a bigger role in this book as he's imprinted to Zoey but he also gets into some trouble as well. I'm sure things will get even more complicated as the series progresses. Zoey's friends are the best. Though they can get annoying at times in the end they are on her side and come to her help when she needs them. Zoey and Stevie Rae are especially close friends so I was sad to see what happened to Stevie Rae. Looking back there were signs that Stevie Rae was getting sick but it was still surprising

I noticed the authors kept retelling parts from the first book. I guess its for the benefit of those who haven't read the first book or have forgotten the storylines. I found it frustrating at times cause I just wanted to get on with the story.

There's never a boring moment for Zoey at the House of Night. There are still so many unanswered questions about Stevie Rae, Neferet and so much more. I'll be reading the next book CHOSEN soon and looking forward to continuing Zoey's story.
