From the Publisher

An erotically charged, addictive thriller from the future queen of suspense.

Living in Toronto for a year, Elena is leading the normal life she has always dreamed of, including a stable job as a journalist and a nice apartment shared with her boyfriend. As the lone female werewolf in existence, only her secret midnight prowls and her occasional inhuman cravings set her apart. Just one year ago, life was very different. Adopted by the Pack when bitten, Elena had spent years struggling with her resentment at having her life stolen away. Torn between two worlds, and overwhelmed by the new passions coursing through her body, her only option for control was to deny her awakening needs and escape.

But now the Pack has called Elena home to help them fight an alliance of renegade werewolves who are bent on exposing and annihilating the Pack. And although Elena is obliged to rejoin her "family," she vows not to be swept up in Pack life again, no matter how natural it might feel. She has made her choice. Trouble is, she''s increasingly uncertain if it''s the right one.

An erotically charged thriller, Bitten will awaken the voracious appetite of every reader, as the age-old battle between man and beast, between human and inhuman forces, comes to a head in one small town and within one woman''s body.

From the Jacket

"[T]his debut novel from a Canadian writer proves that solid storytelling and confident craftsmanship can rejuvenate one of the hoariest of all horror clichés. … Filled with romance and supernatural intrigue, this book will surely remind readers of Anne Rice's sophisticated refurbishings of the vampire story." -- Publishers Weekly

". . . it's as smooth as cream all the way, sure to gain fans." -- Kirkus Reviews

"[An] impressive debut thriller. . . . Kelley Armstrong is very good on the sheer exhilaration of shape-changing, of running on four feet through forests, suburban greenery and urban back alleys." -- Amazon UK

"[I]t's terrific. I'm a sucker for this kind of novel anyway, and the heroine is the most appealing I have come across in ages. It's clever, quirky, hip and funny, skating between genres with style and grace. More please!" -- Joanne Harris

'There is nothing overtly gothic about this fast-paced, sexy thriller and its model contemporary heroine -- it's just that she's a werewolf who is trying to make a go of things among humans. -- Bookseller (UK)

"A hair-raising story for the she-wolf in us all." -- Shannon Olson, author of Welcome to My Planet: Where English Is Sometimes Spoken

    Great Canadian Novel 5

This review is from: Bitten (Hardcover)

This is by far my favorite book. When I read it the first time I could not put it down. The characters are unique, witty, and enticing, with a plot that is different from any other I have ever read. You will not be disappointed by this novel! Every time I read it I always find it as good as the first time.

I will admit: I was completely taken aback by this book, because I have read The Darkest Powers books (The Summoning, The Awakening -- with The Reckoning coming out May 2010) as well as the Nadia Stafford series (Exit Strategy, Made to Be Broken), both by Kelley Armstrong, and absolutely fell in love with them. The writing, the characters, the narrator, the plot... everything worked for me. I've read all of the books more than once. And then I read Bitten, and I reeled at the difference in… read more

    Best Book Ever Written! 5

This review is from: Bitten (Hardcover)

This is indeed the best book I have read in a LONG time. Every time I'm in Chapters, and I see someone looking for an interesting book, I always highly recommend Bitten to anyone who enjoys a good read. Even if they don't read books of this nature, they always thank me later for the suggestion. Kelley Armstrong deserves many awards and be on the Top 10 Book's of the Year. Not to mention that Stolen is just as wonderful as the first novel. I can't wait for more. read more

You read the title? Good. Really, if you're into paranormal series, werewolves, vampires, witches and all that jazz, this book/serie is one you need to read. Not only is Kelley Armstrong, the author, canadian, but also, the story is really good and the characters are just so great... You feel for them a lot and there aren't much that you dislike, honestly. One of my discoveries this year.

Kelley armstrong once again creates an amazing novel; with strong, well developed characters and relationships mixed in with some good plots and twists with a whole lot of action is what makes bitten so fantastic. It took me a little bit to get into this book but once i was in i was hooked. The plot and the action for that matter just keeps going and going always making you flip the pages. I loved this book just like i loved her darkest powers series. I can not wait to get the second book… read more

    It was okay 2

I just started to read paranormal and fantasy books, so I was very hyped to read this book based on the modern werewolf theme and that it was a Canadian author; however was somewhat disappointed. I liked the characters and the storyline was unique but it was not a "can't put the book down" type of story. Would like to try another Kelley Armstrong book but a little hesitant at the moment.

    Suspenseful and Provocative 4

Main character Elena's journey to figure out where she belongs (human world vs werewolf world) becomes quite frustrating as the answer becomes increasing clear, yet she continues to deny it as the truth. Other than that, I really enjoyed this and I look forward to the remaining books in the series. Her scenes with Clay quickly became my favorite, as the tension and frustration and desire between them is written with ease and kept me turning the pages. The author's ability to change… read more
