New York Times bestselling author Lauren Myracle offers a spine-tingling, unforgettable story of friendship gone very, very wrong.

Lauren Myracle brings her keen understanding of teen dynamics to a hypnotic horror story of twisted friendship.

When Bliss's hippie parents leave the commune and dump her at the home of her aloof grandmother in a tony Atlanta neighborhood, it's like being set down on an alien planet. The only guide naive Bliss has to her new environment is what she's seen on The Andy Griffith Show. But Mayberry is poor preparation for Crestview Academy, an elite school where the tensions of the present and the dark secrets of the past threaten to simmer into violence. Openhearted Bliss desperately wants new friends, making her the perfect prey of a troubled girl whose obsession with a long-ago death puts Bliss, and anyone she's kind to, in mortal danger.

Lauren Myracle has taken the ubiquitous friendship novel to a new, dark place.

    Confused !

I am confused about the novel. I don't know if it was good or not it's weird. It keeps you in but there's nothing really happening. There are some things throughout the book that don't really have their place there and the novel could've been way shorter, many things could be removed. It's an okay book, with a weird story line. I'm still confused about how I enjoyed the book..

Bliss Inthemorningdew (no, I’m not joking!) is new at Crestview Academy. It’s tough enough to be the new girl, but Bliss’s life is further complicated by her unusual last name and the fact that her parents are hippies. Bliss has spent her entire fourteen years living in unusual places: a tent, the basement of a college and, most recently, a commune. Now she lives with her very formal maternal grandmother in Atlanta, dumped there by her parents who have run off to Canada to protest the Vietnam War. Or Nixon. Something, anyway. They’re sort of no-entities, in a very strange way. " This is a situation neither Grandmother not I would have chosen, but Grandmother is nothing if not morally upright, which made it impossible for her to turn me away. She’s also uptight, and it seems that often the two go together." Although life with her Grandmother is odd (at least in the beginning), Bliss is looking forward to having something she hasn’t ever had before: a friend. Soon is she is navigating the impossibly complicated world of teenage drama and it’s a world about which she knows very little. Lauren Myracle’s novel Bliss isn’t really a coming-of-age story, though. It’s sort of part mystery, part ghost story, part thriller. On some levels it works very nicely; I had no trouble turning the pages as I raced along to the book’s conclusion. In other ways, the book is perhaps a bit bloated. There’s commentary on racism, mentions of the Klan and many of the characters in this book are concerned with Charles Manson and the now infamous murders which took place during the summer of 1969. Myracle opens chapters with quotes from Manson and quotes from the Andy Griffith Show, perhaps as a way of balancing extreme good and extreme evil. For my money, Bliss might have benefited from a little judicious editing and more of a focus on what was really intriguing: new girl tries to fit in and gets caught up in creepy hi-jinx. Bliss is a likable character. I’m not sure I understand why her parents dumped her. She’s smart and kind and open-minded. It was easy to be with her and to fear for her safety. I’m certain teens will find lots to like about this book

I gave it one star for the trees that were killed to publish this piece of crap! This is all I can say about this book. I was so annoyed when I was done reading this. I bought it because I liked the cover. Again “don’t judge a book by it’s cover”.

    Great, but dissapointing

I absolutly loved this book. It was very interesting, sometimes very disturbing, but overall a nice story. The characters were really neat to watch evolve, espically reading the journal entries of SLL. But then came the down point, the ending. I just, wanted more to it. Or maybe like a prolouge or something, just anything that answers the unsolved questions. It's like, you see the main characer being all sad and stuff, but what happened to everyone else? What happened to everything that was suppose to happen? So overall, a great book, I would highly recommened it, but I just wish there was more to the ending! :)

    Was okay, horrible ending.

This book was very good, and left you with lots of suspense and thrilling thoughts. Though it had some good parts, others left you wanting to skip through it. I very much enjoyed the book up until the end, which left me feeling empty, and unsatisfied. In conclusion, i would not recommend this book, and give it a 4 out of 10.

This book was truly amazing, full of suspense, you could never guess what was going to happen next. The part with Charles Manson was a little bit complicated and I had to do a little bit of research to clear it all up but other than that, great book and awesome ending!

    No!

It was depressing, dark and disturbing. So depressing and dark it made me not want to read it. A lot seemed to have happened but at the same time it was a bit boring and... continuous? I'm not sure how to explain it. The whole time I really didn't know what was going on. The ending was an EXTREME disappointment and left me, once again, wondering what the hell was going on. Actually, there really was no ending. This is defiantly not a book I would read again.

This book was so great! It was scary and full of suspense. It was also a little disturbing at the end but I would still recommend it. I hope that there is a sequel to it because I really want to know what happens next!
