From Our Editors

Who can defend the earth against the surreal horror from another dimension? In The Book of Night with Moon, it's a quartet of feline champions. These four furry wizards walk between worlds, cross the River of Fire, hunt the Children of the Serpent and battle the Lone Power in an apocalyptic finale.

From the Publisher

Rhiow seems a perfectly ordinary New York City cat. Or so her humans think -- but she is much more than she appears. With her partners Saash and Urruah, she collaborates with human wizards to protect the earth from dark forces and maintain the network of magical gateways that connect to different realities. But amid this amazing secret animal world lies a danger that threatens not only the cats of the world, but humans as well.

About the Author

Diane Duane was a psychiatric nurse before turning to writing full time in 1980. Since then she has published twenty novels, including several collaborations with her husband, Peter Morwood. She also writes screenplays, served as senior writer for the BBC-TV education series "Science Challenge," and writes scripts for CD-ROM computer games. Duane lives with her husband in rural Ireland.

This book's plot is old and very simple (yet another fantasy book with a "mysterious dark force" as the menace...). Also, as a person who likes both dogs and cats, I found the pro-feline writing got on my nerves a lot. If you love cats, you would… read more

Diane Duane's The Book of Night With Moon combines two of my favorite elements: cats and wizards. The striking cover art catches the eye immediately, and the story synopsis completes the allure. My familiarity with Duane's other work is limited to her Star Trek novels, but consider her contributions to be a high point of the series. All these things combine to make this a novel I would want to buy at first glance. Chalk it up to my love of cats, but I find it easy to step into their world… read more
