I really like how this book is set further into the future where
the kids are now grown up and still dealing with some of the same
problems their parent did.
Devyn, Syn's son, was tired of the political backstabbing and
double dealing, and decided to go on his own and help those who
needed help. Alix is a slave and is sent to spy on Devyn to get
information to confict him. She is amazed at how he is not like any
of the men she is use too. He is gentle, kind, and his crew
respects him, and she starts falling head over heels for him. She
has to keep reminding herself that her mother and sister's lives
are in her hands and to save them, she has to betray the only man
who has ever cared for her. Devyn can't get Alix out of his head,
above or below his waist, and she looks similar to his ex that
tried to kill him and in turn he killed. He finds out that she is
there to spy on him and is determined to save Alix and her family
at any cost, even turning himself in to his enemy.
