Perhaps life altering is a strong statement but that is what this book is to me. Even when I read the first several pages, I became very excited about the possibilities of maintaining and even improving my mental focus and memory and processing. The book explains why, for example, mental decline starting in mid-life is not necessarily inevitable. It discusses the science behind techniques of recovering from stroke, or from neurological injury. Most non-fiction books cannot keep my attention, but this book kept me going right to the end. Very readable and full of solid science to back-up each section. Interesting stories of real humans. Very strongly recommend it for anyone who is interested in keeping his wits about him as long as possible.
