I have had my eye on this book for a few years and am so glad that I finally purchased it. I have tried everything - wheat-free, gluten-free, anti-candida, elimination and rotational diets but still was sick – bloating, hard-to-lose weight, fatigue, brain fog, etc. With my mother dying of colon cancer at age 53, Breaking the Vicious Cycle is another step in getting answers, to eat grain-free and experience some much needed healing for my gut in the hopes that I do not suffer the same fate. The book contains great information, resources and testimonials. The recipes are varied and good but my hunt continues for more cookbooks for this specific carbohydrate diet (SCD). Some of the recipes call for home-made yogurt so I purchased the Yogourmet Multi electric yogurt maker, which has worked fine. However, now due to a dairy allergy, I now need to use a dairy-free yogurt starter, which is a challenge to find here in Canada. I look forward to figuring this all out and making totally dairy-free yogurt - goat milk, maybe coconut and some nut yogurts too. The book order and delivery were handled well by Chapters, fast and efficient service. The book, which is reasonably priced and well worth the money, could very well start you on your journey to wellness.

Though sometimes the writing is dry the subject matter is itself very exciting. Elaine is putting together a lot of different sources of information to present her thesis regarding our societals dependancy on mass-farmed grains and the price we are beginning to pay. This book is a _MUST-HAVE_ for anyone suffering from IBD or IBS. Outlined is a natural way to combat many gastrointestinal ills through diet. The diet is healthy even for those _not_ suffering gastrointestinally. I highly recommend it! It's written in easy to understand terms, there are sample menus and delicious recipes.

If you have any form of IBD, you MUST read this book! It has changed my life by improving my health dramatically. The debilitating symptoms of ulcerative colitis are gone, I have more energy than I have ever had and I am no longer taking the horrible medications usually required to control this disease. This book can give you back your quality of life. Your health is worth the effort to at least read the book and give it a shot, isn't it?

After a serious bout of Crohn's and a horrible reaction to prednizone, I happened on this book and decided I had nothing to lose. Giving up breads, grains and sugar healed my digestive system and I haven't had a flare for three years. My GI told me a number of his other patients were on the diet and doing very well. I would recommend the book very very highly to anyone. The diet is healthy. Carbs are supplied in fruit and vegetables.
