Bridget Jones Diary

by Helen Fielding

July 2, 2001 | Mass Market Paperbound

She's always trying to cut down on smokes, cut out the binges and cut off her alcohol intake, but when the weekend rolls around, who's really counting? She's Bridget Jones, smart and impudent British writer Helen Fielding's fashionable, witty and ultra-modern creation that's taken the best-selling book world by storm. A hilarious and no-holds-barred account of modern single life hitting the dregs with style, Bridget Jones's Diary is sound bite after sound bite of uproarious Brit humour at its razor-sharpest.

...Then read this book. Bridget Jones and her quirky little world are hilarious. There is not much else to say about this book. It's light, entertaining, original, and all of those good things. Clearly, it is not meant to be taken seriously, which may be why some people didn't enjoy it.

The book and the movie are both on the same level of excellence. It is nice to read the book as well as watch the movie, in case you're thinking of skipping one.
