    In Need of a Pick-Me-Up?

    Alex

...Then read this book. Bridget Jones and her quirky little world are hilarious. There is not much else to say about this book. It's light, entertaining, original, and all of those good things. Clearly, it is not meant to be taken seriously, which may be why some people didn't enjoy it.

The book and the movie are both on the same level of excellence. It is nice to read the book as well as watch the movie, in case you're thinking of skipping one.

    Absolutely Delightful

This is a fantastic book. The character of Bridget is so well developed and Helen Fielding truly has a talent for writing. Bridget's diary entries are extremely entertaining - Alcohol units: 3 (v.good), Cigarettes 12, number of mins spent obsessing about feminist wrongness of obsessing: 162 approx. (bad) - if you haven't read this book already - go out and get it!

    July - A New Job

8st 3 (cannot lose wobbly bits located in and around stomach), alcohol units 2 (v.g.), cigarettes 0 (as no longer smoke), calories 5234 (feels like).

9:30 p.m. Writing rave review for hilarious book just read. Unfortunately, unsure what to write. Maybe will pop to the shop and grab cappuccino.

9:45 p.m. Did not grab cappuccino but instead bought chocolate brownie. Is bloody delicious but back to 8st 3 (cannot lose wobbly bits located in and around stomach), alcohol units 2 (v.g.), cigarettes 0 (as no longer smoke), calories 5234 (feels like).

9:47 p.m. Book really was fantastic, highlighting joys and troubles of singletondom in London and really felt like self was worth something thanks to book. But what to write for review?

9:50 p.m. Ok, review completed. Now reads "A great read since all Singletons should be warned of the effects of emotional fuckwittage and Smug Marrieds should not be allowed to be so smug. Buy this book because it is bloody brilliant."

9:53 p.m. Unsure if those at Chapters/Indigo will be pleased with review but no longer feel like typing as Pride and Prejudice is on. Ooh, Mark Darcy and wet shirt.

I really liked this book! I could not put it down! Bridget's neurotic ways made me laugh and also reflected qualities found in every woman! A fab read!
