Meet Elliot, respected Cape Cod painter. Unbeknownst to his admirers, Elliot's got some demons in his past. When he tries to paint them out of his system, his plan backfires. Now Elliot's got some demons in his present and future as well.

Spawned by a power of both mind and matter, Elliot's demons are very real, very weird, and very, very pissed off.

The people in Elliot's life called him 'closed off.' So he looked inside himself. Deep inside. What he found, he brought to the surface. Now its violent manifestations are holding him hostage at his beachside cabin. Worst of all, they know how to sing and dance.

Editorial Reviews

According to the Thesaurus I have, there are 17 different synonyms for 'weird.' Taken individually, grouped together in various combinations, or used en masse , they cannot begin to describe the twisted -- nay, loopy -- wonder of brine . One could say it reads like an otherworldy collaboration between Dorothy Parker and Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. One could talk about the crab with the head shaped like a penis. Or the Lovecraftian squid-dude who croons like Old Blue Eyes. One would not mention what's in the jacuzzi. One does not even want to think about what's in the jacuzzi. Put it right out of your mind this instant. No, really. It will be haunting your dreams and waking hours soon enough. brine is -- I said stop thinking about the thing in the jacuzzi! Can't you READ?   Thank you. brine is a marvel to behold; smart, funny, weird (did I mention that the Thesaurus I have has--oh, wait, yes I did), endlessly inventive, and often time jaw-dropping in its energy and originality. I've never read anything quite like it, so I know you've never read anything quite like it, because I read a lot. And my personal demons already know how to sing and dance. Unfortunately, they suck. Seem to have wandered off the highway...ah, yes, here we are: Adrienne Jones is without a doubt one of the most original, flamboyant, and exciting new writers to emerge this century. I also think that she is evil. Look at that cute-little-girl author's photo in the back. She's not fooling anyone. She wants to ta
