Broken

This book brings us back to Elena, who I adore. She's hilarious, tough, and pregnant! Also, she might've released Jack the Ripper into the world. Yay! Her fears and concerns about her child, zombies, portals and Clay, come together in such an entertaining way. Her and Clay's interactions alone are enough to amuse me, they are so great. If you've read the previous books in the Women of the Underworld series, or are just a fan of kickass female leads, check this and the other books out! There's plenty of supernatural goodness to please just about anyone.

I started reading her young adults books the The darkest powers and they were very addicting. So I stepped up to the adults and I was blown off my feet. She has the right mixture to keep the plot and the characters fresh through out all her books.
I have to say she is one of my favorite writers of Sci Fi Fantasy

I've read all of her Women of The Otherworld series, except for Frostbitten and I can't wait to read that one. I'm now on her YA series Darkest Powers and it's great as well, I just hoped that some of the Otherworld characters would come into play in this book, but it doesn't. Anyway it still is a great read. Kelley Armstrong is doing a great job, she is the first writer that I've read more than 10 of her books and I'm still not tired of them, they are all unique in their own way, keeping the reader glued to the pages until it's done. A********************* all the way for Kelly Armstrong...TRUE NORTH STRONG AND FREEEEEEE!! And an Ontario native too....LOVE IT!!!!!

so out of all the books of kelley armstrongs (which is a good portion of them) i really didn't think i would like this one i mean come on elena pregnant how exciting can that be but man was i totally wrong!!!!! i rarely like to admit i am wrong but here i will openly admit i was 100% off the mark. I mean you get all the regular characters plus a couple new ones which is always good, all the good powers in her previous books, zombies, a insect like necro, a couple good plot twists that had me scratching my head (only slightly i did suspect something was up) and of course drama, action and a powerful feminine character who still manages to kick butt in her impregnated state!!!! definitely recommend this book and of course if your a kelley fan you probably already have it on your tbr pile and if your not well GET ON IT SHES FANTASTIC!!!!!!

Loved it. Elena and Clay's story continues in Broken. Kelley certainly did not disappoint. In this installment of the Otherworld series we are back with the wolf pack them attempting to close a portal to "Hell" that was accidentally opened when Clay squashed mosquito containing Elenas blood. Little did they know what would come out of that portal. We are met with a Zombie prostitute with Syphilis, rabid crazy rats, cholera and Jack the Ripper(or so they think its him, big surprise there...SHHHH). In addition to all this our beloved heroine is pregnant and is advancing at an excellerated rate. Always by her side is the never faulting and ohh so sexy Clay, who protects Elena no matter what. We see a very loving side to him. All this and more makes this book addictive and unable to put down once you start. I loved this book from beginning to finish. The book does have a very happy ending which made me cry with joy, although I thought the book ended too soon, but I guess you have to end a book somewhere and why not end it at a very happy moment.

For some reason it took me an inordinately long amount of time to finish 'Broken.' There seemed to be something lacking in the action, some crucial "oomph" factor that was so easily found in the first two Elena narrative but seems to be glaringly absent in this one. It could be the fact that Armstrong wasn't quite ready to handle a pregnant werewolf, there were too many restrictions in Elena's action to be had, and the reader could feel it very keenly.

The idea of bringing the infamous Jack the Ripper into an already supernatural world, and hinting that the monster wasn't entirely human was a good one, however the culprit's seemed glaringly obvious as the story wore on and the various 'betrayals' that have become customary in Armstrong's action sequences were not at all surprising. What WAS surprising, however, was how the story failed to pick up any sort of speed that could normally be related to Armstrong's werewolves. Clay's startling lack of aggression and/or passion was a disappointment, as was the tangible weakness that could be found in the various supporting pack members.

Ultimately, my honesty forces me to admit that I wanted a great deal more out of 'Broken.' I was expecting a fast-paced companion to 'Stolen' and 'Broken' failed to deliver.

I enjoyed this but I thought the first book Bitten was better. I like that the book has action and some romance. I haven't read too many werewolf books so this was another pleasant surprise.

I have to say that Elena is probably my favorite Narrator in her Womer of the Otherworld Series. In this book you meet a few more characters, and even though the ending was a bit predictable, I found that it took me at lesat 3/4's of the way through to put it together.

I really enjoy when authors take actual historical events and twist them to work for their piece of fiction. It normally makes for a pretty interesting read because there are elements of truth in there - and i love seeing how an author can make those events relevant to the story they are writing.
Well in the third novel based on Elena the werewolf in Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld, the reader gets to see her twist the Jack the Ripper events and stories to work for her. Unfortunately for me, as cool as the premise is, i found it was not as fast paced as previous efforts, and like as if it was missing a little somethin somethin.

In this book, Elena is pregnant, which is cool, but then again, werewolf and all, she can't kick as much butt as Elena from previous books. I mean granted she's still more agile and stronger than an average human any day - but i found i missed the non-pregant Elena during this book. Along with the pregnany, Clay and Elena's sexlife stinks in this novel. Call me what you will, but i like the Clay/Elena sex parts of Bitten and Stolen, and it is seriously lacking in Broken. Just because the woman is pregnant does not mean that she cannot have sex!!!! There i said it. Anyways, moving along, I just felt that at times the story got stuck, and that it didn't flow as nicely or as quickly as i would have liked.
To help understand, what has happened is Pregnant Elena and the pack are roped into a deal that they believe is a no-brainer. They get the location of a mutt that needs putting down in exchange for the From Hell letter by Jack The Ripper that they need to steal from a house in Toronto. Of course nothing is ever as easy as it seams - and naturally for Elena, her blood from smacking a mosquito that bit her on the From Hell letter opens up a dimensional portal that comes with zombies, cholera, crazy rabid rats, and an unknown force that they need to find and kill to close the portal. Yes, no word of a lie - a mosquito did this!!!!

Don't get me wrong, the book is still a good read, and has some great moments in it, but it just didn't love it the way i did with Bitten and Stolen.

I still love Elena and Clary, they seem to consistently provide some of the best moments when they are together. And i love the pack too. Jeremy is still the coolest Alpha EVER, and it was nice to see Antonio and Nick seeing as they were noticeably absent in Stolen. We meet some other GREAT characters in this book as well as some others that i am glad get disposed of in the end!!! :)

Please do not hesitate to read this installement if you have committed to the others, i just maybe wouldn't expect the same excitement that was brought forth in Bitten and Stolen! But hey remember that this is only my personal opinion ;)

After being somewhat disappointed with the previous book in the series (Haunted), it was a relief to return to Elena's story. Armstrong is definitely back on track with this one. Maybe it's just that I prefer Elena's story over Eve's (the narrator of Haunted). Whatever the case, this book did not disappoint.

Elena, a rare female werewolf, narrated the first two books in this series (Bitten, Stolen) and she is once again the narrator here. This time round we learn that Elena is pregnant, but that's not going to stop her from a little adventure. The 'little' adventrue turns out to more than she bargained for (of course) and soon she finds herself on the trail of none other than Jack the Ripper in Toronto no less!

It's nice to have some Canadian content in the books for a change. If anything that would be my one complaint about Armstrong. Despite the fact that she is a Canadian writer, she has chosen to base her characters for the most part in the United States.

This was a great addition to the series. If you are already a fan, I would highly recommend it. If you are thinking of checking out Kelley Armstrong's books for the first time, you should really start with the beginning of Elena's story told in the first two books in the series (Bitten, Stolen).

I loved this one. Mostly because Everywhere in this book...I'VE BEEN. for some reason It makes it way more fun to read. Also once again adding characters we know and love from her other books always makes me love picking up a Kelley Armstrong book. Out of all her werewolf books, this has two be my 2nd favourite

The more I read Kelley Armstrong's work, the more I enjoy it. I have to say that this book was my favorite so far of the otherworldly Women.
Elena is pregnant and terrified. She is afraid to lose the baby, to hurt the baby and also afraid of what the baby will be. Since she is the only woman Werewolf, she wonders what having a child with another werewolf would create.
I truly enjoyed reading this fast paced, thrill ride of a story. It had everything, Love, comedy, horror and was absolutely Armstrong's best work as of yet.
My favorite part was the involvement of a portal that may have unleashed Jack the Ripper in modern Toronto...MY CITY. Cringe.
I can't wait to read her next book

Really interesting storyline! Only problem I had was getting characters and back stories mixed up a little. Mostly my fault as my concentration wasn't fully into my reading but just a warning that focus may be required since there are quite a few characters involved in the plot.
As I got over half-done reading the book I realized that this wasn't just a story about a kick-butt female werewolf but all the otherworld females can hold their own. The men really take a back-seat to the women in this book and it's good to read.
I really enjoyed how Armstrong hits Toronto with a pile of supernatural events and she does a good job giving the reader a sense of how the otherworld and human characters deal with the experiences. And there's lots of supernatural activity loaded into the book (witches, sorcerers, zombies, demons, vampires, necromancers, clairvoyants - werewolves are refreshingly uncomplicated). Packed in with that are Victorian-age health crises hitting Toronto's downtown core and rampaging infected rats. So pay attention!
Still doesn't quite rank up there with the first book of the series but a very entertaining read and a worthy succession/finale of the trilogy.

This isn't the first novel where Elena is the main character, and I love how Armstrong puts you inside her head. Elena is a strong woman/werewolf with a head on her shoulders and guts to do what needs to be done. In this novel, not only does she have 'bad guys' to worry about, but she's pregnant as well, and that has her worried with nightmares to match. You feel what Elena feels right down to your core and you root for her constantly.

Clay is his usual self, completely devoted to Elena, and still has his own worries and insecurities.

The plot is excellent, lots of action to keep you on your toes. Not as many love scenes, but there's a reason for that. Won't say what it is, don't want to spoil it for a potential reader. A plot twist that I really hadn't figured out until it was almost too late, and I love when an author does that to me, LOL! I think the ending is absolutely perfect - I couldn't ask for better. These novels are different than the usual vampire/werewolf/sorcerer/witch/demon novels I've read and not only do I give it a huge two-thumbs-up, but a definite recommendation!

Kelley Armstrong is a FANTASTIC Canadian author who has created engaging and complex characters in her "Women of the Otherworld" series. Although Armstrong is writing about werewolves and witches, the characters are startlingly real, and you will become very attached to them. Very, very well-written, with a good dose of humour and romance.
Fans of Kim Harrison, Rachel Caine, and Laurell K Hamilton will adore Kelley Armstrong!

I saw this book, and I just had to get it.. So I bought it and didnt put it down until the story was done... I LOVE IT. This was the FIRST Kelley Armstrong book I have ever read! I am a fan! I couldnt belive how amazing it was.. I re-read Broken about 6 times.. and I never re-read books! I cant wait to read the rest!!!

Even though Elena was pregnant and the sex was more tame the book was still a great read.
I resently just meet Kelly and we talked alot about her novels and what's to come. Look's like there will not be a movie. I love how she also have other charters that are strong and that you want to read more about them. Also the loved the history of Toronto and how she discribed th city.

Kelley Armstrong's Broken is, like all of the Women of the Otherworld series, well worth the read. The characters are endearing, and the plot interesting. Armstrong once again shows her exceptional sense of humour. Pick this one up today.

AS usual Kelley did not disappoint she hooks you from the beginning and doesn't let go until you are left wanting more. It was great to see the Pack back and to see them evolving I can't wait for more!
I loved this book as I have this entire series and Kelley always brings in a strong storyline with lots of twists and turns! If you have loved her previous books you will not be let down with this one!

I have to admit I awaited baited breath for this novel. Kelly never seems to falter, always delivers an exceptional read. I have to admit at times I felt the story slow down... But was still intrigued with how she interwove a historical psychopath into a mystical world of werewolves and witches and still come off making it so interesting without bringing in other characters from previous novels. Just goes to show you that when the creative juices flow and you have talent only new and up and coming adventures can transpire. I can't wait until her next novel.... will it be a continuation where we delve into the world of rearing werewolves, or will the Cabal be onto someone else... Will EVE be offered up from the Trinity forces and given a chance for redemption.... I don't know but I will scan the book shelves, and the great Canadian author's website to find out.
