So at first i was hesitant to read Burn For Burn. It seemed like a relatively boring book, with nothing really that intriguing. But i am so glad i picked this book up, because it's so different from what i had expected. Three very different girls are brought together because of one thing; they all want revenge on someone who hurt them. Lillia wants to get back on her guy friend who is hitting on her sister because she knows first hand how much trouble boys can be. Kat holds a long-time grudge against her ex-best friend, who practically ruined her life. But now she wants to get even. And Mary has just moved back to Jar Island, and is not the same girl she was before she left. And the guy who destroyed everything should watch his back, because now that shes back, she's going to get even. I absolutely loved the characters! Kat intrigued me, and was definitely her own person. Mary, the soft-spoken, reserved one in their group, is the most relatable. And Lillia is... well, at first, i couldn't stand her. Part of the popular crowd, taking advantage of the attention guys give her to get what she wants. But she slowly grew on me, and i have to admit, she is perfect for this part. I enjoyed the flashbacks that tell readers more about their past, and how everything gets so complicated as the book goes on. Each girl has their own reason for revenge, and I especially appreciated Mary's story. The writing is simple and easy to read, and the cover captures each girl's personality very well. As much as i love the ending, just how they finished it off was kind of... crappy. I dont know, I loved everything leading up to the final chapter, but the actual final words of the book was a disappointment. Nevertheless, I am still going to read the next book! There is also a... I dont want to say supernatural element, but it was something like that. Small, not that big of a deal, but at the same time, a big part of the book. (I know I'm probably not making any sense but whatever.) Anyway, I liked it, but at the same time I didn't. It was like the authors were trying too hard to get people to like this book. It's good, but it kind of takes away from the overall storyline. Burn For Burn is a highly recommended book, filled with laughs, relatable teenage moments, and utterly and captivating characters and events. I could picture everything that was going on. Definitely a great book!!

I can't even...how is this book so awesome? I am boggled by the awesomeness. I knew this book would be good, fantastic even. But I didn’t think I would love it THIS much. I’m saying it up front; this was one of my favourite books I’ve read this year. It was so deliciously twisted. I loved every vengeful page of it. I think the best word to describe this book is wicked. Wicked plot, wicked revenge and wicked characters in the very best way. Kat is an out-spoken, in-your-face character that doesn’t take anything negative without giving some in return. And I loved that about her. She is a bad girl that has every right to be that way, and every reason to seek revenge. She had a softer side behind all the bravado, a side that had been damaged and hurt by those around her. It was really interesting to see the contrast! Lillia I had mixed feelings about. Sometimes I just wanted to shake her, and others just give her a hug. I loved how protective she was of her sister, but I also wanted her to stand up for herself. Mary was such a sweet girl, with such a tragic past. I was livid about how she was treated, and wanted her tormentors to pay for what they had done. And those tormentors? Well, they were some nasty characters. Reeve, the egotistical, popular jock got under my skin from his first words. This was a guy who needed to be put in check, and these gals were exactly the ones to do it. Then there was, ugh, Rennie. I completely understand these girls wanting to get revenge on this vile girl. She was entitled, cruel, and vicious sitting high up on her pedestal. In short: she was the epitome of a mean girl. And she had a fall coming to her. I actually loved the plot of this book. Three girls getting revenge on those who’ve wronged them? That is the start of a fantastic story. I felt almost giddy with anticipation when reading this book. I knew it was leading up to something huge, something bad, and I was dying to know what it would be. It was odd how physical my reaction was to this book. I flitted between laughter, complete anger (which involved shaking the book), shock, and excitement. I was bouncing in place at some points! This book was a complete guilty pleasure, and one I can’t wait to read again and again. Revenge mixed with wicked gals and a suspenseful plot: that’s what Burn for Burn is. When I first heard that Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian would be co-writing a trilogy together, I must have squealed out loud. I absolutely loved reading Jenny Han's Summer series and Siobhan Vivian's Not That Kind of Girl, so there was no way I could contain my excitement for Burn for Burn. And you know what? The book absolutely lived up to my expectations! A traumatic event forced Mary to leave Jar Island several years ago, but she's found the courage to finally return. She's a very sweet and gentle person, obviously still scarred by her past, and it really did break my heart learning what really happened to her. But now that she's back, Mary's not going to let anyone hurt her that way again. Kat may have a tough girl exterior, but it masks the hurt she feels inside when girls like her ex-best friend, Rennie, throw insults at her. She's not afraid to sharply retaliate with words, but there's only so much a girl can take before she cracks, and this time, Kat has greater plans in mind to make others pay. Then there's Lillia– pretty, rich and popular, it would appear she has everything going for her. However, Lillia's not happy about the person she's become lately, and finds it harder and harder to relate with her circle of so-called friends. She's also protective of her younger sister, and doesn't want her to make the same mistakes she has. Out of the three girls, I think I felt the most mixed feelings for Lillia. She's been friends with Rennie for awhile now, but it's not always obvious to her that it really does appear Rennie is only using her. I wanted Lillia to take more charge in her life, rather than following the whims of others... so I was happy to see her grow as a character as the novel progressed! When Mary, Kat, and Lillia are together, there's no need for any pretenses; they can be their true selves. The girls may form an uneasy alliance at first, but their emotional vulnerability and thirst for payback brings them closer together. While no one can know they're friends at school in order to avoid suspicion, you just know they'll have each other's backs when the time comes. Burn for Burn is deliciously dramatic, bringing out your inner dark to play as the three unlikely friends plan how to exact their revenge. A part of myself was taken aback by the delight I felt seeing their enemies in pain, but I shoved those thoughts aside because the anticipation of payback was too much fun. The ending of Burn for Burn is wickedly suspenseful, leaving me absolutely desperate to know what will happen next in Fire With Fire! Th the joys of high school, full of cliques, and drama, and this time around revenge. The book takes place on Jar Island. a picture perfect area with four towns. The residents don't believe in locking their doors, and everyone trusts one another. We start off with Mary who comes back to Jar Island, for reasons that aren't explained right away so the mystery deepens. Then there's Lillia, the rich but not spoiled princess who wants nothing but to protect her little sister from making the same gruesome mistakes she made. Lastly, there's the strong yet hot-headed Kat who wants to get revenge at her ex best friend Rennie. These girls have been burned, and there's no one to stop them until they get their revenge. The girls each take a turn and voice their opinions. The reader is whipped back and forth from the past to the present, which I particularly didn't like. It wasn't confusing, it was just scattered. The authors do a great job writing together and it absolutely shows in their clever plot twists. The characters develop very fast and so does the plot. The setting is just perfect, and I can understand how the beautiful setting can be completely misleading. I didn't like how the book glossed over Lillia's problem. She was taken advantage of and it was like no big deal to her. How could you brush that off? I thought it was incredibly unrealistic. Miscommunication and assumptions are made and the girls just fight fire with fire, when it could have easily been solved just by talking. I guess that's why the teen years are for learning from your mistakes. And then there's Mary. who didn't have much of a personality..That is until the very end. The paranormal twist was surprising and one that I didn't see, so that was rather intriguing. It reminded me a lot of Carrie. (That movie creeped me out as a teen!) As soon as I heard what the plans were for Reeve, I knew it would badly. This is too horrible to imagine. I screamed at the characters "DON'T DO IT!" (Like the characters would listen..) Burn for Burn is an intense, and powerful read that mimics Gossip Girl and Mean Girls. It also ends on a cliffhanger ending, and I can't tolerate those because I need to know what happens!
