    Insane Conclusion !

This review is from: Burned (Trade Paperback)

I loved the book up until the ending, where things started getting intense, odd and sort of irrelevant. I mean, it was a sad story about a girl who wanted love; so she was punished for finding it and in the process of her punishment she found true love. Then, the conclusion was.. oh my. I would explain but I don't wannaspoil it. Defintely read it. I rate it 4.5 I would've given it 5 if it wren't for the insane conclusion. But I guess not all love stories end how everyone expects. Otherwise; they'd be pretty dull.

I read this book when I was in high school, about two years ago. It's been one story that's stuck in my mind since. I've always loved Ellen Hopkin's novels, and this one was one of my favourites. It starts off with a horrible situation, and as a punishments, ends up turning out to be an amazing story of love and acceptance.

I know how Ellen Hopkins usually ends her books, and I so desperately wanted it to be different this time around!

    I really enjoyed this book.

I loved this book, the emotions that are expressed in this book are wonderful. This story coulld be easily relatable by someone, and their is a lot of people who do not say anything about abuse when they should. Awesome book and love the way it's written.

This is a good book to ease yourself into the world of Ellen Hopkins for it seems to be the lightest of her stories and the easiest to cope with. It is one of the greatest love tragedies that I have ever read. It's raw, real, and shows a side of religios extremism that no one really ever thinks much about.

Okay so this is definitely my favourite book :) and I recommend anyone to read it. I've read some of the reviews for it and I've seen that a few people don't like the ending, but I think the opposite. It was very heart breaking, but I guess it goes to show in life everything doesn't have a happy endings. This was my favourite book that Ellen Hopkins has wrote (well done) I loved the characters in the story.
    anywayy GOOO REAAD THIS BOOK!
And if you've read Crank and Glass, did you hear! Ellen Hopkins is writing a continume to it, its called Fallout.

Ellen Hopkins never disappoints. Another book about personal troubles, this time about Pattyn, a teenager in a strict family community. She starts to doubt everything she's been told is 'right' and is punished for speaking out. She really finds herself throughout the book and discovers the true meaning of love, and how painful it can be. The ending was a bit of a cliffhanger type but besides that i cant complain.

A great story, a must read. Hard to put down book. Very sad however. A good cry for the sensitive. Very easy to relate to. Highly recommend it!

I couldn't put the book down, seriously, I read it in a day. The emotional aspect the main character portrays is both disturbing and beautiful. Ellen Hopkins' writing style is fresh and easy on the eyes. I can't wait for Smoke, the sequel. The ending of Burned is definitely a cliffhanger and tear jerker for those who want a book that look upon the darker side of reality.

I love how this author is so unafraid to tackle real teenage problems today in each of her novels. Have read two of her other books and while this one is not my favourite i would stil highly recommend it! The edning frustrated me, but don't expect ellen hopkins books to be happily ever afters. They are real life. The ugliness, the beauty, the anger, and the pain. Terrific author i hope she keeps writing.

Burned is narrated by Pattyn, a sixteen year old growing up in a morman family. Her father is extremely religious, although he is also a raging alcoholic. He beats his wife, who chooses to forget about it the next day.
After a few rebel moves pulled by Pattyn, she is sent to live with her father's sister. Her aunt proves to be nothing like Pattyn's father, she is open minded and loving, she also knows just how cruel her brother can be. Pattyn meets Ethan, who captures her heart, and shows her that she can be loved. A perfet love story. But if you know Ellen Hopkins, you know it's not always picture-perfect.
Written in verse, this is a story about how life is a rollercoaster ride, and how sometimes, it never even itself out.

    a whispered breath

The entire book is written in verse which is quite unique. Adds a nice flow to the text while you're reading. The ending was a bit abrupt though. There was so much build up plot/character development wise and then it just ended out of nowhere. So the ending did leave you somewhat disappointed. The book is also a tad depressing to be honest. Otherwise, it's a good read .

I agree with you 100%! It was awesome and yes, the end was a tad questionable and possibly a bit rushed, also. Overall, though, a GREAT book!

This was a great book, personally I enjoyed hopkins' book Impulse better, but it was still a very good book. I actually sobbed through the ending and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to feel satisfied with it, but I'm not sure the true impact would have been the same without the harsh ending...but it was still very sad.

A trilling romance novel that is made yet more intense with the burning restriction of the young lady's religion. As she experiences love, touch and sex she feels compelled to leave her abusive family for her true love. An unexpected ending put a blunt on their escape. Read it to find out!

Burned is definitely a good novel for teenagers. This being one of Ellen Hopkins four books, it lacks no surprise that this book is well written and intriguing as Crank, or Impulse. Definitely a book you would like to read when you have the time, for when you start reading this book you wont want to stop.

I just love the way Hopkins writes these stories, in a sort of poetic or prose-style. I found this story moved a little too quickly. It seemed to sort of rush through the beginning and the end, while lingering a little too much in the middle. Aside from that, an interesting and sad story... though I wasn't overly fond of the ending.
