A treat for car-lovers and kids of all ages. Also particularly informative for adults who may have slept through their Young Drivers of Canada classes...you will never look at an engine the same way again! Also useful to have with you as a prop when you go to your mechanic. One look and he'll see that you are 'in the know' about what's under the hood. You'll also have a very enjoyable read while your car is being repaired! Highly recommended.

From the Critics

"…Car Smarts…could and should be essential reading for anyone who hopes to drive a car or buy a car, and anyone who wants to know what makes a car tick…"
-The Globe and Mail

"…clean and brightly coloured illustrations add to the book's appeal… [A]worthwhile addition to the non-fiction genre, especially for the mechanically minded."
-The Gazette [Montreal]

"…a snappy look at every imaginable aspect of cars, brilliantly illustrated by veteran Gordon Sauvé… Particularly effective are the ways in which Edmonston and Sawa have used material supplementary to the main text to illustrate the points they are making… [R]eaders of this excellent new title will be well on their way to understanding just about every aspect of whatever make or model they end up driving."
-Quill & Quire [starred review]

"This is truly a book for car enthusiasts. It teaches you everything from the history of cars, the true meaning of horsepower, the very first "lemon," safety ratings and even where the 'new car smell' comes from."
-Brand New Planet, Taylor Lew, Age 12
