The essays In Chasing the Shore describe the way in which Prince Edward Island, in Weale''s words, "opens up to the beyond." His essays are, at one level, about a place-Prince Edward Island-and the people who live there. Mostly, however, they are about the spirit, and how his island homeland has become for him, and many others, a portal to the eternal; a place he calls the holy ground.
