Claymore is, without a doubt, one of my favourite series. Intense action, original and highly detailed monsters, strong FEMALE characters and so much more. I've actually seen someone be turned away from this series because the characters were female. And to that, I have to say, WHYYYY? I, not trying to simply defend my gender, think that the female leads are brilliant and original. You don't see many shonen manga where there is only one or two permanent male characters. The fact that you can only become a Claymore if your are female is interesting. Clare is a brilliant lead, intruiging and cool, with her young companion Raki. The other Claymore's Clare meets on her travels are fun and interesting, and a pleasure to read about. The plot twists are, for a change, a joy to uncover and explore throughout the volumes and the on-going series just keeps opening up new doors to exciting worlds. The art starts off a little rough but gets better, quickly, as the series goes on. You should definitely go out and buy this series, even if your a girl. In fact, I know more girls and guys who like this series, even though it's shonen a-la-max. You either love it, or you hate it.

Intelligent and strong female leads, no romance, an intriguing plot, and enough blood and gore to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool. Claymore fills the criteria of everything I love in an action-based story.

This series was recomemded to me by a couple of people and I have to say, this is an AWSOME series! Great story line, hot characters and well..im not gonna spoil it! Go out and BUY THIS BOOK! (and the others!!) L. p.s. thx Melody!

I really enjoyed the plot of this book and I plan to read the rest but I wasn't particularly impressed with the artwork. If it weren't for the plot I wouldn't even consider reading the rest. I do like the fact that all the Claymores struggle to keep their monster side at bay. A good read if you're looking for something new.
