I have taught the GED course for seven years to dozens of students. I have copies of all the different texts, and this text is head and shoulders above any of the others. It is designed with lessons and then practice questions just like the actual GED exam. The other texts have a lot of words and then a few routine practice questions that give the student no experience in the exam style. In addition, this text and the Barron's text are the only Canadian texts. This is very important for the Social Studies section. The American social studies of the other texts is of no use to Canadian students. This text has an additional set of subject specialized texts for each of the GED topics. These expand on the practice material in the main text using the same format. Other texts can be used for additional information or a different approach, but this text should be your main textbook to prepare for the GED exam.

The book was helpful for what it was intended for. It must be said however that the majority of books being sold on Amazon.ca are substantially cheaper than they are on the Chapters web site. Had we known this surely we would have bought it along with a few others from Amazon.ca instead. Helpful book, just overpriced.

If you deciced to buy this book or not. I do however, Highly recommend the The Pinocchio Intermediate Vocabulary Builder, Wizard of The Oz Vocabulary Builder, and Tarzan And Jane's Guide To Grammar. These books are essential. Since I assume you want to complete your High School GED. These Vocabulary & Grammar are at a Grade 12 level and college entry level. This three books should help you with your essay, and reading comprehension. Anyway, Best of Luck On Your GED Test.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT waste your time on this book!! I attended a government-run course designed to prepare you for the GED. They use the Princeton Review study guide called Cracking The GED. I was told that the reason they use Cracking the GED is because it presents questions exactly the way they appear on the real GED exam. After completing that study guide, I still had some time before writing the GED so I foolishly went and bought this book. The lessons are confusing, they cover material never, ever tested on the GED, and what is covered is presented in a manner you will never see when you actually write the test. For example, practice tests in this book present information in the most confusing manner in order to make the question more difficult. This NEVER occurs on the GED. All information is presented in the simplest possible way. Also, for some of the Science, Social Studies, and Reading Comprehension questions the answer choices are ALL vague. Such vagueries only appear on the GED if they are the wrong answer choices. Correct answers on the GED are always clear and easily related to the passages. Working with this study guide left me confused about certain things and less prepared than if I had only used Cracking the GED. What a waste...
