    Recipes you can Trust 5

This review is from: The Complete Canadian Living Cookbook: 350 Inspired Recipes from Elizabeth Baird and the Kitchen Canadians Trust Most (Hardcover)

Your inner chef, like mine, may have experienced that creative spark when flipping through a new cookbook at the book store. You read the ingredients, go through the mental process of constructing the dish but then woe, woe, woe, wait a second! You realize that half the ingredients will need to be purchased at a specialty store...and you end up putting the cookbook back on the shelf. But not with this cookbook from the Canadian Living Test Kitchen! This is a cookbook I go back to again… read more

    Meh 3

It's perfectly fine, but not great. As usual, it leans bizarrely heavily on two of my most hated ingredients: cinnamon and mushrooms. Someone at Canadian Living thinks that there is no recipe that cannot be improved by mushrooms or cinnamon, or for all I know, both. The previous incarnation of this book, by a different author, was far superior.

    A Kitchen Must Have!!! 5

This is an amazing cookbook, a must have for anyone who enjoys cooking. I have tried many recipes from this book and have had rave reviews from my family and friends. This cookbook offers basic information and tips such as a guide on vegetables (how to and how long to roast, boil, steam and bake them) simple reciepes and some more complex ones. I also enjoy the variations that many of the recipes come with. These recipes work out all the time and I feel confident when I try a new recipe… read more

The most useful cookbook I own 5

I have used this cookbook so often it is in tatters! I've bought copies for each young adult as they leave home. It has every basic recipie any family needs to eat - as well as some great ethnic ones. I always bring this book when we go to the cottage so I can still bake and cook from scratch. If you want to buy one cookbook this shoud be it.

    My Favourite 5

This is an excellent cookbook. In fact, it is one of my two favourites. There are simple dishes, and some that take a bit more time and effort. Most recipes use ingredients that you have in your kitchen and pantry. As these recipes are 'tested til perfect' in the Canadian Living kitchens, they always turn out fabulous. I would recommend giving this book as a gift, and buying one for yourself! I use it weekly> read more
