Dense and insightful. A comprehensive look at how capitalism has become a shadow of it's initial idealistic self, corrupted by the misguided self-interest that was supposed to bring betterment for all. We see that our democratic processes have become essentially a system of smoke and mirrors and that we are at the mercy of our own desires. We are told what we want and we are helped to want it... NOW!
This book will work you up into a tizzy and make you want to create a better world where we are not large children demanding what we want when we want it.
We owe it to ourselves to slow down and stop the insane shopping.
A fantastic follow up to Jihad vs. McWorld!
Note: very academic, some people might need to have a dictionary by their side to truly grasp what Barber is saying (yay for increasing vocabularies!!!)
