by Lorna Freeman

New American Library | May 3, 2004 | Mass Market Paperbound

Rabbit is a trooper on the Border Guards, just another body in the King''s army. Great novel

    Madalina Teodorescu

This novel is a real find. The action never lets up, and I basically stayed up all night to finish it (I have done this with very few works). There is enchantment, grandeur, intensity, and plenty of humor and minefield dialogue... The characters are memorable. I ordered the second book and signed a petition on a blog to have the third book released. It was canceled for mysterious reasons.

I loved this book & the sequel, Kings Own. Can't wait for the next book in the series to find out what happens to Rabbit & company.

    Amazing New Series

I've read this book so many times that I've had to buy another copy. The characters are complex and their interactions with each other have a depth not often seen in fantasy. The fantasy world itself is as unique and varied as the characters. Plotwise, the story is fast moving, but without any loss in detail or focus. I would recommend this book, and its sequel, to anyone that would like a fresh new look at the fantasy genre.
