I found this book to give a great insight to the work that nurses do in this country and what they are up against in the health care system. Nurses are the front line of our health care system, yet they often don't get the recognition they deserve. This book finally does that. Congratulations Andre.

From Our Editors

Nurses are there for us throughout various stages of our lives. They hold us when we're born, care for us when we are sick or injured and provide comfort in the final moments of life. Nurses are undoubtedly the most integral part of the health-care system, yet for years they have remained unfairly invisible. Now, as cutbacks, job losses, overwork and lack of respect hurt this important profession, nurses are finally making their voices heard. Andre Picard's Critical Care: Canadian Nurses Speak for Change takes us to the front lines of the nursing crisis and reveals a deeply committed group of professionals as they intimate their hopes and concerns for a better future.
