Will probably have to read again in future and will likely pick up a lot more the second time around.

It's difficult to sum up this book in a simple review. C.J Cherryh is expert at writing characters whose thought patterns are not typical of regular humans, whether they be aliens as in her Foreigner series, or the Azi in this one.

The ethical questions that this book can raise are very interesting, having to do with both simple cloning and the psychogenesis that is the central theme of the novel.

This collected volume is an excellent way to experience the whole series.
