This is book 12 of the Sookie Stackhouse series. Sookie, the barmaid from Bon Temps, Louisiana really seems to find trouble. This time she is summoned to a party where Felipe de Castro, vampire king of Louisiana, Arkansas and Nevada is feted by her boyfriend and vampire Eric Northman. Eric is in process of fang-banging a bright young thing when Sookie walks in. Later this same woman shows up dead and drained of blood on his front lawn. First, Eric was what??? Where is any kind of loyalty to Sookie or better yet when is Sookie going to realize that vamps don't do loyalty. The how and what is the premise of this latest book in the series. Sookie is also part owner of Merlotte's with Sam. This is a good move for her and sets Sam a little closer in her sightline. I found this book a bit tedious. Like get over Eric already. Enough!! Harris just isn't making the vamps interesting anymore. I do like Sookie's activities with respect to the bar ownership. Will I read the last of the series. YEP

It took a while to get into this one and it never really got exciting. Writing about casseroles and baby gifts is not the reason why I picked up these novels. Next book needs to pick up the pace as this was really a book about nothing. And did I miss the word of the day?

Alright, was this book one of the best in the serries....no. Was it better than the last.....ABSOLUTELY! I have read a lot of reviews saying this book was another filler but in comparison to the last book I felt this one had a lot more substance. You can see that loose ends are now getting tied up as important characters begin to depart the serries for good. I guess it's all in preparation for the final book coming out next year but regardless, I actually enjoyed this book in comparison to the last few in the serries. It felt a little closer to the first few books thankfully. All in all I love the way this author writes and I get lost in her books everytime. I dread the end of the serries but enjoyed every minute spent completely absorbed in the books.

Alright I'm more on the fence of a 2.5 or 3/5 stars for this one. I don't have much to say except that I'm dissapointed that we have yet another filler book for this series, now I will always be a Sookie Stackhouse fan but I mean I think Charlaine Harris is running out of ideas because for the past 3 books not much really happens and the book is on a one tone mode thats not bad but it doesn't do anything for the series either. I gave the previouse 2 books 4 stars because I was being nice and hoped for more to come but I coulkdn't do it for this one, just because I'm not pleased with this book doesn't mean eveything was bad because it wasn't ,the book was still a bit entertaining but again not much goes on so filler. Overall not a bad book but I think Charlaine Harris should end this series soon, I still look forward to the next book. :0)

Been a huge fan of Sookie from the start. However, this book felt dragged on to me and I quickly began to lose interest. I expected a lot more. Hopefully the final novel will make the series worth while.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Sookie Stackhouse series. I read the box set of 8 books in no time and ENJOYED every single one! However, now I feel that she is not producing books like that anymore. I just finished "Deadlocked" and didn't find it anything special. It seems like she is writing just to meet her yearly book quota. It is really a shame because her books can be wonderful!!

As a HUGE fan of this series I was thoroughly disappointed again!! The first 10 books were great but the last few are getting uneventful and uninteresting with only the last few chapters of the book being intriguing!! Of course if you've read the other books you'll want to read this book.... Although disappointed by the quality of the book, the plot and even the lack of excitement in the first 2/3 of the book I would read it again....there's always answers to your previous questions and lets face it....any fan of the series is dying to find out who Sookie finally and definitely stays with!!! However, if I could ask C.Harris for one wish is to stop writing in so much filler and get to the heart of the story....only write for purpose and meaning....as it was in her previous installments! I miss it...I still go back to book4, 5,6 etc where there was suspense and constant surprises with each turn of the page!!! Please please come back!!!!

As always this book is amazing! I love this series.

I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the Sookie Stackhouse installments so far and cannot wait until this one is released! I have re-read the series multiple times to have a laugh at the dark humor and quick witted sarcasm. I anticipate this next installment will be as enjoyable as the previous ones. Thank you Mrs. Harris for your marvelous imagination. I would recommend this serious to any reader who likes suspense and a little dark humor.
