I REALLY ENJOYED the book and i LOVED the other books (maze runners, scorch trials). But the ending of this book was very very disappointing *****SPOILER***** I cant believe that they let one of the main characters from the beginning die like what is this. Other than the ending i really like the book and LOVED the series.

*contains MAJOR spoilers* the Death Cure was not up to my standards. The First book in this series, The Maze Runner, was AMAZING!! the Scorch Trails was good, not great, but not terrible. Now this. Well, i can say that i didnt finish it, so maybe if i read the whole thing, cover-to-cover, i would have liked it more. I read about the first 150 pages before loosing intrest and moving on. But, i did go through the book, and looked for anythng major that happens, like SOMEONE dying! And i did find out that two MAJOR charactes died..... Let me just say that ever since i frist read The Maze Runner, i knew (well, thought, i guess) that Thomas and Teresa were going to live and get together in the end. Well, i was wrong. I NEVER approved of Brenda when she was first introduced in The Scorch Trails, but even then, with all of that confusing drama between Thomas, Brenda, Teresa, and Aries, i still thought that Thomas would end up with Teresa. But, when looking over the book after i lost intrest, i found out that she FREAKING dies!!!! And, in the end, Brenda kisses Thomas and HE PULLS HER CLOSER!! I know that this is a adventure book, and its not centered around romance, but i love a good action/adventure/mystery book, but its SO much better with romance! Usually, without any romance, i loose intrest. But, Brenda? Honestly, i couldnt believe that, after one amazing book and another good book, James Dashner actually made a book this bad, with a different femail character that first appeared in the 2 book, fall for the main character! Im pissed off that thomas didnt end p with Teresa. Yes, shed done some bad things, but through all that, they should still be together!!!!!!!! UGH! Overall, though, the reason i rated this book 2 stars instead of 1 is that the beginning was good, and Teresa didnt die until the end. But James could have actually told us what Thomas felt like when she died... Well, he did, but he didnt describe his feelings, or why he just "let Teresa go" and "moved on" to Brenda. If teresa didnt die, and if i knew that she ended up with thomas, then i probably would have kept reading the whole book, even if it was the hardest thing i could do, because of the dreadful writing and lack of action and description. But, she did. What was James Dashner Thinking?

of the 3 books, the Scorch trials was by far the best! i couldn't put it down and it had surprises popping out of every page! i personally liked this book overall however i had a few concerns with it.... first of all, they didnt go into much detail with the right arm. i felt like the author didnt really feel like explaining much about it and when they were in the WICKED headquarters everything just happened so fast! next, i felt like the ending was rushed! how could they have fought and lost so many lives and nearly killed themselves trying to take down WICKED only to have them end up in paradise with no questions asked. i just think that after all they have been through, they wouldn't have trusted what was happening so easily. i get that they wanted to be done with it, but they've doubted pretty much everything before so why wouldn't they have doubted this? now for the things i liked... **SPOILERR*** when thomas got the note from newt, and when we foudn out what it said i was shocked. i didnt know what i would do if i were in his position but as much as i loved newt, i would've done the same thing! the only thing i thought about throughout the whole novel was newt and how he had died. i respect thomas for doing that and i'm glad he did because it showed how much strength he had and needed. and the fight they had before hand had showed readers how difficult it was for both of them. i also liked the humor between minho (my favourite character3), thomas, and frypan! it reminded readers of the first-the 3rd book and kept a strong bond between them! the main concern i had with the book was the ending, i just felt it was rushed. but other than that i thought it was a pretty good book ! :)

Enjoyable conclusion to the series. While not completely realistic it was still very good.

*Contains Spoilers* This book actually reminds me a lot of "I Am Legend", the movie about a plague that kills many people and leaves survivors as monsters. But now that I think about it, there isn't much to say about this book that's good. However, it took me less than a day to read it (mainly because I wanted to see what would happen at the end) and I did love the dry humour and jokes that were in the novel. One of my favourite quotes were: "'Yeah,' Minho said. 'This isn't up for debate. I don't care if we have Cranks or rebels or gorillas running around this place-- these shuck guards aren't our worry right now'" This book was quite predictable. For example, I had already predicted that it was the Gladers and others from the Maze that were out, escaped WICKED, and took the weapons and Berg. They were kind of oblivious, thinking it were Cranks or guards who stole them. Also, it was not as interesting as the Scorch Trials. Because it was predictable, there was not that much suspense, which did not motivate me to read the book. In the Scorch Trials, I couldn't put it down because I just had to know what was going to happen next. In this book, I was not as into it. I did not like the ending of this novel, besides the fact that it was a happy one. I like happy endings, but it made no sense. An example was when the Immunes were hidden in the Maze (including some of those who had already been there before, like Frypan). If they escaped the Maze once before, they should've been able to do it again, unless they were Swiped of their memories, which I highly doubt because they still remembered everything that was happening to them. Frypan and the others should have lead everyone out! This book was also a bit too Hollywood for me, such as that typical "crazy people attack sane people in the car" scene. It was almost too good to be true at the end, considering all the bad things that had happened to them before and Ava Paige (Chancellor of WICKED) eventually did what their "enemy", the Right Arm wanted: to save those who could live. There was not enough information revealed in this book. What happened before all this? What was Thomas' and Teresa's past? This was another reason why I wanted to read the book, but it was barely answered. There was not much information on Ava Paige either, which I didn't like, because I would have wanted to know more about the Immunes' "heroin". This book somehow did not feel very touching nor thoughtful; it was quite frustrating. I was not sad when Newt or Teresa died, and now that I think about it, I did not feel that much when Chuck died either (although I was a bit sad). Finally, I did not like how Thomas only cared about those whom he was close to; he did not care about the others who had the Flare besides Newt, and back at the end of the Scorch Trials, when he looked down after making it safely on the Berg, he saw "no one he really knew" and so was not sad at those brave deaths. A bit selfish, if you ask me. I have a lot of negative points here, but i did like this book, although I always find the last book of trilogies a bit lacking. such as Mockingjay of the Hunger Games. I am hoping the prequel will answer my pressing questions about Thomas, Teresa and Ava Paige.

A couple of years ago I read the Maze Runner and I thought that the novel was very original and entertaining. Fast forward to the present day and I have just finished reading "The Death Cure". I was pretty bored throughout the whole story - the author could not seem to generate much suspense. Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of activity in the plot but most of it lacks anticipation and the events seem forced or predictable. There were no plot twists here or sudden reversals. Everything leads to the big showdown between Thomas and the Rat Man - bet you didn't see that one coming. Even the showdown is equipped with obligatory explosions and major character death. The best sequence in the story is a night drive through an infected area in a van when Thomas and his two companions get ambushed by Cranks. That was rivetting and, unfortunately, the only suspense in the story. Fairly disappointing overall and I read it mostly to complete the series and find out how it ended. I would not have picked up volume 4 if there had been one planned. The dialogue was very glib and lacked authenticity.

***CONTAINS SPOILERS*** Honestly, I cannot say that I expected this to be spectacular after reading The Maze and The Scorch Trials. The writing was extremely repetitive throughout the series. Nearly every chapter had Thomas thinking something then "pushing it out of his mind". Even though I found that annoying I kept reading. The story line was enjoyable and I was looking forward to see how it would all play out. As for this book in particular I was frustrated too many times to count. But here are my top three. 1) Thomas refusing to get his memories back. Although I understand what Dashner was trying to convey, it was utterly disappointing not to have so many questions answered. 2) When Thomas and Brenda were seperated from the remaining Gladers in the Underneath why did he not at least TRY to contact Aris with his telepathy? 3) Since only the most intelligent were supposed to be in the Trials why was Thomas so completely stupid? This is most evident when he is in the coffee shop and he reveals that he is a Munie to the Red Shirt, even though he had been warned several times prior to this encounter that this should never be revealed! When the end came I was left disgruntled at the lack of explanations which left many loose ends, however, there were some explanations but most were haphazard at best. As for the ending itself it was just a little too "Hollywood" for my tastes. I do understand that there is a prequel to be released and I will read that as well in the hopes that the questions I (and likely many other readers) still have will be answered.

I read the first book a few years ago, and did not enjoy it that much. The plot was cool but slow. The ending was too gorry with vivid description of death and battles. Normally I would be go for with battles and actions but everything was overdone. When I finally got around reading the second book, it was brilliant. Sure, there was few gross head-cutting description but it was suspenseful. I never knew what danger was going to appear in the scorch. To tell you the truth I was scared of reading the book at night, but it was a good kind of scare. The ending of the second was really good, frustrating but good. I immediatly wanted to read the last book but didn't get a chance until now. The third book started out REALLY boring. James seemed to force some action into it by describing awesome guns and the fight between the guards and the children. It was not working. :( When the children finally get to see what the world was like, it was just as boring as the most boring part in the second book, which was when Brenda and Thomas was at that stupid club. BORING! Oh, this reminds me of the stupid back and forth of Thomas' relationship between the two girls. Thomas was such a winer! Oh, I hate Teressa because she betrayed me. Oh I feel for Brenda but I don't know, she betrayed me too. I got sooooo sick of this and that was just few chapters in (this is extremely bad when the chapters are short). I also did not like how the plot slowed because of Newt. I'm not going to say anymore.... I did not have a connection between the book. When people died, I felt that I did not care at all whether they died or suffered. I have to say that I was caught off guard by the closing section of the book but it didn't make up some of the disappointing parts in the book. The ending was predictable after it was revealed, if you know what I mean. It was a quasi-original ending. You will think that "oh cool, wait, that is a lot of the Hollywood movie endings...boo?" There were sad, surprising, and scary parts but overall, it was not as good as the second one but I guess it was ok a book. 3.5 out of 5 stars. PS: a better trilogy got to be Atherton trilogy by Patrick Carman.

Where to begin? Well, I've been anticipating this novel ever since I've started reading the trilogy. I really wanted to learn more about the Flare and its "cure". Sadly, not much is revealed that wasn't already known. We know about the Flare from previous novels, and whatever we knew about the cure beforehand is all we'll really know. The third book begins around a month after Thomas has been sent to a white room, and we learn that the boys have been infected by the Flare. Now, that was a real good twist because it shows that the Flare is deadly and even the Gladers can catch it. The real reason why these boys and girls are so special is because they are not showing symptoms to the Flare. They're immune to its effects and are called "Munies". Considering that Thomas is the main charcter, he decides not to get his memories restored as he does not want to know why he was involved with WICKED at all. I kind of wanted Thomas to get his memories restored as I have so many thoughts on whether WICKED is good or not. But the readers are left in the dark and will not know the real deal about WICKED until the very end. Literally the last line of the novel. Thomas, Minho, Newt, Brenda, and Jorge escape from WICKED not wanting to deal with the lies and half truths anymore. They find sanctuary in Denver, Colorado where Munies are living and working. Also, there's a man there that is able to take out the devices in the Gladers that lets WICKED control them. The group learn that Munies are disappearing from all around the world and everything points to WICKED. And WICKED is desperate in getting Thomas back as he is the last piece to finding the Flare's cure. Throughout the middle of the novel, we get more information on WICKED and what the Flare really is. I enjoyed the information as I was still in the dark about these two things. I did not enjoy the quick pace because I felt like the entire novel took place in a matter of a week. I also felt that nothing was really being done in the third book. All the action and fighting against WICKEd happen in the last few chapters. But because there's so much being done in those chapters I felt like everything I was reading was passing in a blur. The cure of the Flare is no real cure at all. WICKED was trying to fnd the cure, but used all those trials the boys went through as a test. A test whether the boys were showing clues of the Flare. Their results did not help WICKED find a cure for the Flare. There is no cure to the Flare, just a cure to protect mankind. What I did enjoy was the little play on words at the end. WICKED and everyone else was trying to figure out how to cure the Flare, but in reality the solution was standing right in front of them. There is no cure, but there is a way for the world to one day prosper again. That's where the boys come in and it truly is a happy ending other than all the deaths.

This book ended very well, and had many moments that were heart pounding , and made me sit on the edge of my seat. I would recommend this book to people who love a book that full of action and like a little bit of love in their books as well.
