    A great read

I read this book a few years ago because I had started to watch the show Bones and found out that there were a series of books that had the same female character and was intrigued. I read it and enjoyed it immensely, not only because it was a good story, but that it was set in a city that I was somewhat familiar with. And when I picked it up again this time around, I wasn't disappointed. In fact, I probably enjoyed the book more this time because I was able to catch details that I hadn't caught before. If you enjoy suspense type books and if you like the TV series Bones, you probably will enjoy the book. It should be noted that the book doesn't at all resemble the show.

I'd read novels by this author before, but this one is the best that I've read so far! It was suspenseful and exciting and I couldn't put it down! This book clinched Kathy Reichs as my new favourite author. I highly recommend this and other books by this author.

Maybe I'm bias, working in the medical field myself, but I find Kathy Reich's books to be fantastic! This was the first book of her's that I read, and I've been hooked ever since!!! I can't wait until her next book comes out. If you like novels that keep you up a little late at night because your too scared to go to bed (or leave your room to go to the bathroom!!) Then this is definately the book for you.

From Our Editors

When Dr. Temperance Brennan takes off for a much-needed vacation in Montreal, the last thing she expects is to get involved in yet another murder mystery. But the dismembered body of a young woman catapults her back into her job. Worst of all, she recognizes the grisly handiwork and is certain a serial murderer is on the loose - if only the local police agreed. Instead, Tempe throws herself into the investigation, examining saw marks on the bones and unusual items left in the corpses to put the puzzle together. As she delves further into the mystery, Kathleen J. Reichs' young heroine puts her life and career on the line in Deja Dead.

From the Jacket

Kathy Reichs blasts into Patricia Cornwell territory -- and onto the New York Times bestseller list -- with this critically acclaimed debut novel inspired by Reichs'' own career. Dr. Temperance Brennan, the wry, impassioned director of forensic anthropology for the province of Quebec, is driven to unravel shocking acts of violence by reading the bones of the dead.

In the year since Tempe left behind a shaky marriage in North Carolina, work has often preempted her weekend plans to explore Quebec. But when an unidentified female corpse is discovered meticulously dismembered and stashed in garbage bags, Tempe detects an alarming pattern within the grisly handiwork -- and her professional detachment gives way to a harrowing search for a killer in the city''s winding streets. With little help from the police, Tempe calls on her expertise, honed in the isolated intensity of the autopsy suite, to investigate on her own. But her determined chase is about to place those closest to her -- her best friend and her daughter -- in mortal danger....

From the Critics

"What makes Déjà Dead so compelling, in addition to the authoritative descriptions of how a forensic scientist ''reads'' the story the bones tell, is the character of Brennan -- smart, persistent, gutsy, ironic yet vulnerable." -- Judy Stoffman, Toronto Star
