Double Cross

by James Patterson
As told by: James Patterson

Little, Brown And Company | November 13, 2007 | Hardcover

Just when Alex Cross''s life is calming down, he is drawn back into the game to confront a criminal mastermind like no other. The elaborate murders that have stunned Washington, DC, are the wildest that Alex Cross and his new girlfriend, Detective Brianna Stone, have ever seen. This maniac adores an audience, and stages his killings as spectacles in public settings. Alex is pursuing a genius of terror who has the whole city on edge as it waits for his next move. And the killer loves the attention, no doubt-he even sets up his own Web site and live video feed to trumpet his madness.

And in Colorado, another criminal mastermind is planning a triumphant return. From his supermaximum-security prison cell, Kyle Craig has plotted for years to have one chance at an impossible escape. If he has to join forces with DC''s Audience Killer to get back at the man who put him in that cell--Alex Cross--all the better.

From the author Time magazine has called "the man who can''t miss," Double Cross has the pulse-racing momentum and electrifying thrills that have made James Patterson a #1 bestselling storyteller all over the world.

James Patterson, has to be one of the most arrogant authors, I have ever had the opportunity to meet. Which is sad because I have been a fan of his since his first Cross Novel came out. However, I still love this Alex Cross series. I believe it is his strongest work, and this book will not disappoint those who follow this great character! I highly recommend his earlier works to those who want to read about Cross for the first time. If you follow the books in order, you will gain a much better understanding of Cross (and his family).

    Always on the Edge!

Some people have said that the Cross books are so predictable. But to me they are not. I am on the new book Cross Country, and I am only a few pages in. I never expected any of what has happened. And when I was reading Double Cross the book just kept you on the tip of the iceberg waiting for an oppurtunity to catch you off guard. I just thought that this book was an awesome read, way better than the first book Cross. Read this book and the whole series. This is not a recommendation, this is an order. Have fun reading LOL!!

After four years of festering in a maximum security prison, Kyle Craig finally makes his move. After waiting for so long, his anger and hatred have grown far worse - and so have his plans.

Some Cross novels are a bit predictable and tired after awhile, but the mastermind keeps you on your toes.

    A Great Read

Another thriller. Kept me in suspense throughout the pages and left room at the end for a continuation of the story line for another book. One mystery solved but can hardly wait for the next book to come out.

About the Author

James B. Patterson (born March 22, 1947) is an award-winning American author. Formerly an advertising executive for J. W. Thompson in the early 1990s, Patterson came up with the slogan "Toys R Us Kid". Shortly after his success with Along Came A Spider he retired from the firm and devoted his time to writing. The novels featuring his character, Alex Cross, a black forensic psychologist formerly of the Washington, D.C. Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation, now working as a private psychologist and government consultant, are the most popular books among Patterson readers. James Patterson has been criticized by Stephen King, who called Patterson''s books "dopey thrillers".[citation needed] Patterson shrugged off the comments, stating that he wants to be the "thrillingest thriller writer of all time".[citation needed] James Patterson has also been put as one of Forbes magazine''s top 100 celebrities.
