Dream Of Eagles #2 The Singing Sword

by Jack Whyte

Penguin Group Canada | April 29, 2005 | Mass Market Paperbound

Born of the chaos of the Dark Ages, the Dream of Eagles produced a king, a country and an everlasting legend-Camelot

It is 395 A.D., and as the Roman armies withdraw from Britain, anarchy threatens the colony that will one day be known as Camelot. Creating their own army and joining with the Celtic people of King Ullic Pendragon, the colonists emerge as a new breed of Britons, ready to forge the government that will be the Round Table and its Knights and to prepare the groundwork for the future coronation of Arthur, first High King of Britain.

With all the drama, passion and violence of England's most vibrant history, The Singing Sword continues Jack Whyte's bestselling chronicle of the dream that gave birth to an enduring legend.

I love Jack Whyte's book, they never disappoint in the least. They are long and are packed full of detail so they may take awhile to get through but they are worth it in the end.

This is the second book of his Dream of Eagle series which is set in Britain just prior to the Romans leaving. The history of life at that time, and the Roman military is amazing. Whyte does a lot of research and really knows what he's talking about. You feel like you're there, experiencing it.

Whyte is by far one of the greatest historical fiction writers today. He takes accurate history and weaves a tale so vivid you would believe it to be history itself. This is the second book in the Dream of Eagles saga. He has continued building up to the Aurthur legend and it is truely enthralling. This book won't let you put it down.
