Bianca wants to escape.

When she meets handsome, brooding Lucas, he warns her to be careful-even when it comes to caring about him. But the connection between them can''t be denied. Bianca will risk anything to be with Lucas, but dark secrets are fated to tear them apart . . . and to make Bianca question everything she''s ever believed.

    Off the beaten path...

This one kept throwing me all over the place. I thought I had sh*t figured out, but then I'd be waayy off. I thought I knew what Evernight was- I was wrong. I thought I knew who Bianca was- nope. Then I knew I had everything figured out, and I knew how Lucas fit into the story- and then I was absolutely wrong again. I couldn't have been more off the beaten path. I was lost in the woods.

I don't know if I'm just slow at picking things up or what, but there were a lot of surprises. Some of them bothered me at first because I thought it ruined the whole idea of the story...but as more information was uncovered/revealed I liked it more and more.

This one gets 3 stars. It started off and ended strong...but there were some points throughout that I had the urge to skim through.

This looks like it will be a good series to continue with. I have a feeling the next one will get better from here. Now we know what's up with Evernight the real excitement can begin.

    Random:
-this reminded me a lot of "Fallen" by Lauren Kate. The settings are really similar with the whole "gothic academy" thing.
-I love stories that take place at boarding schools or remote academies. It's always an eerie setting. Love it.

    A job well done

This book had me hooked from the prologue. I borrowed this book from the public library, and found it so captivating I had to go out and purchase my own copy. I loved the characters, both Bianca and Lucas, and found them both interesting. You got a good sense of who the characters were, and it left you wanting to move right into the second book. This wasn't just a typical happy ending story, and the twists and turns the whole way through kept you captivated. Hands down one of my favourite books! Well done Claudia!

    Not a great start

The first half of this book was simply painful. I felt like Gray didn't know what to read, so instead of doing something else, she just let the story go on and on without reaching any point. The characters were unoriginal, and annoying. The story was a major Déjà-vu for me. I almost gave up on it. But I didn't.

The second half of the book gets better. Enough for me to actually want to pick up the sequel, to see if it will still keep on getting better. There is still this annoying kind of love relation, where they both would give up anything for the other. Even a felling of the Romeo and Juliet with the impossible love twist.

The characters get less horrible as the story goes. You end up tolerating them. The plot is unoriginal, but I think it will get better in the second one (or hope so)

If you're someone who really really loves vampire books, you'll probably end up liking it, when they finally decide to include the vampire plot in it. For others, you'll maybe like it if you make it past the 150 first pages

From the Critics

"Stephenie Meyer fans will find similar rewards in the flashes of humor; the terrifying battle between ancient, supernatural societies; and the steamy romance in which love bites aren?t just a euphemism." (Booklist)
