From the Publisher

Popular fantasy author Kelley Armstrong (Women of the Otherworld series) makes her first foray into crime fiction, with the debut of a series of non-paranormal novels featuring female assassin Nadia Stafford.

Nadia Stafford is one of the world's few female contract killers. A former cop, drummed out of the force because of a scandal, she is an expert at disguise and cool under pressure. But when fellow hitman Jack arrives on the scene, Nadia's very private existence is seriously challenged.

A series of victims are being murdered seemingly at random all over the country - different areas, different walks of life, different MOs. There is nothing to tie them together except a random page torn out of a single book: Helter Skelter. But does the Helter Skelter killer - as the hysterical media now dub him - have a real connection to Charles Manson? Or is there something even more sinister at work?

Is this, in fact - as Jack believes - the carefully planned exit strategy of a fellow professional killer, determined to leave the life, but equally determined to clear up an old mistake? And, if so, which is the real victim?

Now, the highly suspicious and secretive hitman community will have to break their cover - at least, to each other - and help take down this killer before the cops and the Feds discover his true connection to their own secret, exclusive society….

About the Author

Kelley Armstrong lives in rural Ontario with her husband, three children and far too many pets. She is the author of Bitten and Stolen, the first two books in her Women of the Otherworld series.

...and the winner in my favorite author category is... 5

I bought this book because I love Kelley Armstrong's otherworld books. I never expected anything besides a good read, but instead it was fantastic. This is a story of a cop turned hitwoman for the mob. Certainly not the normal next career choice for most officers. The next big job will have her working with a partner and a team to hunt one of their own. A hitman turned serial killer is bad for business.

    • I'm a fan of Armstrong too, and this series is actually my favourite. Even over the Otherworld stuff. The second book is even better. I hope she writes ... read more

    • Yeah, I just found out how good the second book is. My usual workout is 1 hr running followed by 30 min on bike while I read, but I started the book before ... read more

    Slow Burn 4

I really liked this book. Despite the premise, a cross-country hunt for a serial killer - it is not what I would call a mile-a-minute thrill ride. If that is what you are looking for, you may be disappointed. Instead, Exit Strategy is a slow and steady, yet twisting story that builds momentum up to the final show down. In this book, the action isn't the star, the main characters are. Nadia Stafford was once a cop. In fact being a cop was her life and, as a third generation cop, it… read more

    A Great Leading Lady 4

This is the first Kelley Armstrong book I have read and I was pleasantly surprised to see that parts of it were set in Canada. Now after finishing the novel I realize that she lives in Ontario. The story follows Nadia a 'Gun for hire'. She is a hit woman for various crime families in the states. She teams up with a partner Jack to lay a trap and try to catch a serial killer. Without giving away the whole plot I found the characters believable and likeable. The plot was strong with a… read more

    Ethics and Murder 4

I really appreciated Armstrong's character concept in this book: a former cop who has become a hit-woman after an "incident" forces her to resign her job. Now, she tries to balance her ethical code with her job as a professional killer, and the line is a difficult one to keep. When a string of murders begin which seem to point to a professional hit man (or woman) behind them, the police and FBI are going to be all over all professional killers, and it's time for this woman to start… read more
