    I don't get the hype
    While I was pleasantly surprised with the book, I wouldn't say it was good or anything even close. The hopeless romantic in me got sucked into the love story and kept reading simply to see them with their happy ending. The writing wasn't very good at all, everything seemed too over-the-top and the books were waaaaaay longer than they needed to be. The author kept going off on these detours with useless information that added absolutely nothing to the real story. Despite the sex and Dom/Sub relationship (which wasn't even that interesting and at times angering), I found Christian Grey's character intriguing and I really wanted to know more about him and what made him that way. My heart went out to him and I became his (and Anastasia's) cheerleader - wanting their messed up relationship to work and have some resemblance to a normal relationship! It was an easy enough read, and really wasn't all that bad, but it definitely wasn't amazing!

    Great Read
    I had heard all the hype around the first 50 Shades book and finally decided to read the series. I loved the story and the juicy details but I found the writing style to be a bit...amateur. Don't get me wrong, this is an amazing series and if you are looking for an easy read I would definitely start with this series. I just found that the book didn't challenge my reading ability and it seemed too simple and straight forward, which is great if that's what you are looking for. Overall it was a great read, I just wish the supporting characters had been a little more developed, it would have made for a more intense story.

    Amazing
    This book brought back the love of reading I had lost long ago. I'm glad I bought the trilogy because once one book was done I was ready to jump into the next. People think the books are just about sex but the love story is incredibly powerful. A MUST READ!!

    Waste of time
    What can I say that hasn't already been said? It is a poorly written series, so bad that I couldn't even get through the first book, let alone even open the sequels. Leave this one on the shelves and spend your money on something better.

    Awesome Trilogy
    I'll start off by saying that I'm a hetero male who normally only likes murder mysteries. A female friend, not my girlfriend, wouldn't shut up about the book, and so I decided to give Fifty Shades a shot. Though the erotic segments had a lot of details I really didn't need, I could not put the books down. I didn't want to finish Fifty Shades Freed as there is no more to read after that. I had intended to start another series of books as soon as I finished it, and instead found myself reading Fifty Shades again. Though I've read multiple books more than once, I've never immediately read a book a second time, not even when I read Dexter.

    Fifty Shades of Crap!!!
    Complete waste of time! Very repetitive, lack of good language use. Main character is supposed to be a university litterature graduate and can barely use speech a 5 year old would be able to. Always the same things over and over again. Boring... If only the author could write this could have been a great book. Could also have used more in terms of backbone to the storyline. Could not finish the first book, I was becoming suicidal for even starting to read it.

    What's all the fuss about?
    If you really want a great read that will shock and titillate you, read Tiffany Reisz. In comparison, 50 shades is vanilla.

    WORST TRILOGY EVER
    All of the comments and reviews bashing this set of books are absolutely correct. These books are poorly written trash! They really deserve a zero rating. Don't waste your time or your money!

    Colour me Fifty Shades of WTF?
    Okay, so I've totally blown the old promise to start writing reviews again, but I just couldn't keep my mouth shut about Fifty Shades of Grey.....what is the big F'ing deal about these books? Obviously, the hype was started by someone who: A. Never saw the movie Pretty Woman (where Ana was a hooker, and Christian was a much older meglomaniac) and B. Never read erotic fiction before so got all a titter about the sex. Don't get me wrong, these books are entertaining.....fluff? Actually the word that really comes to mind is DRIVEL (and I was serious about the Pretty Woman comment. I can't believe that there isn't already news of a lawsuit...). I think Christian seriously needs a slap to the head, only he would probably enjoy it too much. The only reason he gets away with his over the top insecurities and bi(or maybe tri?)-polar tendencies is because he's rich. And don't get me started about Ana! OMG....wake up and smell the weak twinnings tea you idiot. Do you really want to live your life walking on eggshells? Mercurial gets old fast. Just like these books. Do yourself a favour and borrow these from a friend who already got suckered by the hype.

    Borrow, Don't Buy
    That way you won't feel guilty that you wasted your money. Poorly written with a tendency to repeat favorite words & phrases. There should be many of these books gathering dust in your neighbor's homes. If you want to read an "unread" book, borrow the second or third book of the trilogy, it probably wasn't opened!

About the Author

E L James is a former TV executive, wife and mother of two based in West London. Since early childhood she dreamed of writing stories that readers would fall in love with, but put those dreams on hold to focus on her family and her career. She finally plucked up the courage to put pen to paper with her first novel, Fifty Shades of Grey.
