Food Revolution: How Your Diet Can Help Save Your Life and Our World

by John Robbins

Audio Literature | July 10, 2001 | Tape, Reel

Here, the man who started the "food revolution" with the million-plus-selling Diet for a New America, boldly posits that, collectively, our personal diet can save ourselves and the world. If, according to chaos theory, the beating of a butterfly’s wing can cause a hurricane in another part of the world, try this out for chaotic cause and effect: monarch butterflies are dying in droves due to genetically-engineered corn growing in the Midwest. There is also a direct correlation between the Big Mac in your hand and the mile-wide river now running across the North Pole. Learn the truth about foods we are eating that are, in Robbins’ words, "unsafe on any plate."

This is possibly the best book that I have ever read in regards to veg*nism and the impact on all aspects...health, environment, ethics, etc. John robbins' writing style is excellent and the book is jam packed with eye opening facts and statistics and presented in a way that's thought provoking and interesting. I couldn't put this book down and have recommended it countless times. Excellent book.

This book, along side 'Diet for A New America' and 'May All Be Fed' are the single most important books I have ever read. As a longtime vegetarian, the leap to veganism can be daunting. I would try to mentally block out where ice cream came from, and what eggs really were, in the name of convenience, ignorance, whatever. John Robbins offers a well researched and presented account of the many reasons why that isn't OK, and how important a pure vegetarian diet is for all facets of life. I recommend this book to everyone, it is life-changing.

This book is excellent. John Robbins grandson of Ivy Robbins walked away from the ice cream chain of Baskin-Robbins. Burt Baskin, his uncle, died of a massive heart attack and his father was lucky enough to listen to John about what we are eating, which saved his life. A must read for anyone who does not know where our food comes from and the effects it has on our future health, animal life and our beautiful planet.

    A Must Read For Everyone

After reading this book it became frighteningly clear just how much power we have as a collective to preserve the beauty of our world, our individual health, and life for animals. This book is impeccably researched by a man who has no allegiance to any interest group but that of humankind. This could possibly be the most important book ever written in terms of the major social and planetary crises we are currently facing. Please read this book and pass it on to anyone you know who could benefit from being more compassionate, more healthy, and more aligned with the truth behind several of the industries that claim to be even remotely concerned with our health. The evidence from Mr. Robbins' research speaks for itself. You be the judge. Enjoy.
