Frog in the Well is somewhat reminiscent of George Orwell's Animal
Farm. Whereas Orwell uses the lives of domestic animals to
illustrate the failings of socialist revolution, this novel moves
to an even lower level of the animal world, that of bugs and other
small creatures, to re-examine human history, politics, economics,
and religion.
It is intricately conceived, obsessively composed, and notably
strange.
