He escapes to Alaska and she boards a plane, missing home, but still determined to get to the werewolf. Elena meets with her husband, Clay, on the plane in one of my favourite scenes in the book. I love big romantic gestures and this certainly fits. Clay's romantic side with Elena is a nice balance to his cruel and heartless demeanor as pack enforcer and Jeremy's bodyguard, and yet he is never controlling or over-protective. One of the things I love about the Elena-Clay relationship. The two arrive in Alaska, and it's non-stop adrenaline rush, action-packed hunt for the runaway werewolf and their missing friend. This story also looks at ancient werewolf mythology and the possibility of a bigfoot/yeti: the Inuit Wendigo. In this story, Elena has to deal with problems from her past, buried memories of child molestation, and future problems-- she's been named Jeremy's heir to the pack. One day Elena will be Alpha. Armstrong deftly incorporates both of these complications into the action of the story, making Elena's development very real, very believable.

Elena and Clay go to Alaska to try and help a mutt, and come across a group of human killing mutts. Now they must stop the threat to their Pack. But the mutts aren't the only thing in the woods... I've always been a fan of Kelley Armstrong's werewolves, so coming back to just them was a treat. This novel contains quite a bit of sex, even for Armstrong books, just for a heads up. There was a lot of action throughout the novel. It ended way too fast for my liking, but I forgave it since it was so action packed up to that point.

I have been hooked on Kelly Armstrong's books since the beginning and Frostbitten doesn't disappoint. With that being said, the other books were more intense. To say this is the best so far is not true. If you haven't read the other books featuring Elena Michael's the world's only female werewolf then do not pick this book up because you will get lost. I own 5 of her books and I didn't read 1 and missed her pregnancy, now I have to buy that other book to find out what happened. Unlike her other books the author doesn't refresh on Elena's past enough for you to catch up on her life. That is the only reason I gave her 3 stars. The story is great and if you own the other books pick it up.

I was not a fan of this installment of the series, there were too many times where Clay & Elena allowed the “bad guys” to get away from them. Honestly, the story could have been wrapped up a lot sooner if they’d have just stopped showing off & got the job done. I felt the book really was just Elena trying to get through her prior issues to show that Jeremy had made the right choice in naming her his successor for Pack Leader. It’s the first book since Elena had the twins & aside from one or two scenes she has hardly any interaction with them, more time is spent running around Alaska trying to catch the people that keep getting away. The bright side was Hope & a new species that has popped up, but if this is the way Clay & Elena are going to interact since the birth of the twins, I’d rather not read anymore about them. Which is sad, because I loved them in earlier books. I never thought I wouldn’t like a Kelley Armstrong book, but this one was a disappointment.

It was a really good read, always kept you on your toes
