I have been following Dresden Files ever since I barely knew how to drive. Thirteen Major titles later and about ten more to go, I will still be reading Jim's work until they revoke my drivers license due to old age. Jim's latest installment Ghost Story follows up from what Jim has left us a year ago, doing the unthinkable, killing his Main Character! But how do you comeback from an epic tale, then abruptly killing the main guy of the story and then bring him back on the series? Jim has done it again by weaving a story that tells us that Harry(the main character) is DEAD but IS NOT DEAD, a little spoiler there. The development of the series deepens alot more as this 13th book cultivates not only the protagonist of the book but also his supporting cast. I definitely can not wait for the next book! Great work again Mr Jim Butcher.

Well, as Dresden would say..."Hell's Bells!", this one is amazing. I had no idea what to expect with the series once Dresden was dead - Jim Butcher blew me away with the endless surprises and unpredictable situations that left me breathless with laughter. Dresden is turning out to be a very cool ghost with many more tricks up his sleeve. I highly recommend this one. FYI, I originally thought that this be the final book in the series, not so, there are many more to come!

I couldn't wait to get the ebook. Finished it in 2 sittings (Dang work!). Loved it. The ending was OMG. Very dissappointed in Chapters for not getting the book in stores. Still waiting for ANY of the stores in Edmonton to get it. I would have gotten multple copies of the hard cover on Openning day if they had them.

Being a huge fan of the Dresden files, I couldn't resist buying the eBook right at midnight. I have to say that while Ghost Story isn't as amazing as Changes was, the second half probably has some of the most adrenaline packed moments you will find in the series and I highly recommend it. The first half of the novel is primarily dedicated to Dresden acclimating to his new ghostly state, and as a result the story is stalls somewhat as he figures out just what has happened in the time that he has been missing. Some interesting dead characters and most of the regular ones return within the first 10 chapters, but things have definitely changed, and not for the better. Dresden is given an ultimatum - find his killer, or the people he loves will die. I won't be providing any spoilers, but Dresden's death had a severe impact on many of the characters and as a result many of them have evolved into darker, harder characters. Molly, Dresden's apprentice in particular, has a much more fleshed out role in this novel and is part of the epic showdown that appears at the end of most of the novels in the series. Continuing on with the review, I can't quite put my finger on it, but I have to say the reason I didn't enjoy the first half of the novel as much is the perspective - Dresden is no longer the ass-kicking wizard he was in life. While vulnerability in some novels can bring out depth in a character, Dresden's long, agonizing introspections on the choices he has made that have led to the current situation seem very out of character. I guess he's never really been out of trouble long enough to come up with almost 10 chapters where he doesn't do much but ponder on the situation. Regardless, once Molly enters the story and Bob and Butters make a return, the story just lights up and never lets go. There are unfortunately no incredibly deep reveals on the status of the White Council for most of the novel, which while slightly disappointing does make sense as Dresden is strictly on a time limit for his own mission(I won't say why). Once you get to near 75% of the way through, the return of characters like Uriel, a hilarious Star Trek spoof scene, and a shocking revelation on Dresden's death left many of my fellow fans on the floor, although I have to say that I did kind of see it coming. Uriel's revelation and exposure brings a spirit of hope that has been missing from the past two novels, and it's a very refreshing and somewhat heartbreaking scene as Dresden preapres to move on. All I can safely say without spoilers is that Dresden will be back in the next novel, and the adventures probably aren't going to stop anytime soon. The novel does end on a positive note, but again ends in a cliffhanger. It's not as shocking as the one in Changes, but I have to say it's going a long bloody year for fans to see what happens next.
