    Grave Sight Charlaine Harris

In this series Harris writes an interesting book about a very damaged brother and sister (they are step and not blood brother and sisters)who travel around the country helping solving otherwise unsolvable murder cases using Harper's unique ability.

Harper and her step-brother Tolliver have had less than ideal upbringing, and are closer than most blood siblings as a result of surviving their childhood. Both of their parents are lawyers, and Tolliver's father represents some of the most unsavory characters of the criminal justice systems, drug dealers and organized crime figures, and he gets too deeply involved in the world and lifestyle. Both of their parents get hooked on drugs and alcohol. They have a miserable existence trying to make sure they get to school and are fed. When Tolliver's father gets thrown in jail and dies, and then their mother dies they end up in the foster system. After a couple of years of bouncing around the system Tolliver reaches eighteen and old enough o look after them both.

Harper ends up with a unique ability as a result of being struck by lightning while standing to close to a window during a thunder storm. Besides a host of medical problems ranging from all over aches and pains, and migraine headaches, she ends up with the ability to sense where dead bodies are located by sensing their final feeling the moments before their deaths. People seek out her services to try to get closure when loved one goes missing, but instead of being appreciated for bringing closure, her and Tolliver are treated like parasites.

Harper and Tolliver are called into locate the body of the fiance of the towns most rich and powerful family's son. The girl is from a less than a desirable family, and pregnant when she disappears. The son's body is found very shortly after they both disappears, and it is assumed that it is a murder/suicide. Harper's senses tell her that it isn't, and warns the sheriff that their beliefs are wrong and that the murderer is in their midst. This angers most of the town, and they want Harper and Tolliver gone, and for good reason, the longer they stay the more towns skeleton's come out of the closet.

This was an easy and entertaining read, while it won't win any awards, a great way to while away a few hours.

This is the second book of this series that I have read and I truly enjoyed it Charlaine Harris is a brilliant writer. These two characters being siblings have this connection that makes their adventures seem like they are out to save the world.

    Lacks the Likeability of Sookie

Charlaine Harris has created another series centered around a paranormal heroine. Harper Connelly helps find dead bodies for families and the police and provides closure for those people, however, I had a hard time sympathizing or even liking this character and by extension the story because of her somewhat abrasive personality, her extreme dependence on her brother and her inability to form relationships. Harris' strongpoint has never been evoking emotion but with Sookie Stackhouse and the Southern Vampire series I cared because I liked the characters. With this story I just didn't care. I won't be buying the second book.

I was disappointed in this book. I am a Sookie Stackhouse fan, so i was excited to read a new series by Charlaine Harris. Overall I found this boring, the idea of how Harper finds bodies was the only thing that kept me reading, the characters could be exciting but it never happened. Definately not worth a hard cover price.
